Beautiful Chelsea, near Sloane Square. Gorgeous buildings, excellent shops, upscale restaurants. Be extremely careful when booking rooms/apartments here. I booked through a third party and ended up with a room that was basically a large prison cell--NO WINDOW, about 40 square feet/8 square meters, a twin bed, and almost no space to sit down. If I had known that's what I had booked, I would be less upset, but this hotel/apartment booking agency seems to make their reservation system deliberately confusing. I have read responses to negative reviews this hotel has received, and they consistently blame the customer for not realizing they are reserving a "pod," and not a hotel room or apartment. If you look over their websites--both for apartments and for the pods, they both show rather charming and spacious apartments. There is NO indication anywhere that you are booking a tiny space with no window. My booking company tried to make it right with me, but only after having a lot of difficulties communicating with the people at Nell Gwynn. Indeed they have very inconvenient office hours (they didn't even show up to their posted Saturday hours), and it is very difficult to meet with someone face-to-face to discuss the issues with the room. At best, this is lack of transparency and unclear websites. At worst, this is deliberate bait-and-switch, with little options for guests to get help. In addition to the above, the downstairs area with the "pods" had grimy carpets, grimy walls, my air conditioner occasionally blew out large flakes of something black, and there is not housekeeping if you are staying for less than a week. The neighborhood is gorgeous, the lobby is gorgeous, but it seems like a crapshoot whether you will get the kind of accommodation you think you are booking. It's concerning. I would not recommend booking with...

Read moreWe had a terrible stay. We arrived on Friday and when we went to the room at night we see that there’s no bedsheets for the extra bed. We contacted the reception and the service was awful. We begged for him to help and he told that our stay was for 1 person (we booked room with 4 beds). We checked the receipt and something happened and it said 1 person. Our bad. But I think he could’ve helped us in some way. Maybe contact someone, give us a number for some assistance. I mean - things can happen. It was Friday night and he asked us to come back on monday….? We were leaving on monday.
We sent a request to extend the room for 4 persons in Airbnb. It was approved the morning after that. We slept for 3 nights without bedding even though they accepted the request!! Just a small blanket. We payed 800 EUR for the room and we slept 2 persons with a blanket on the matress. The last day we went out of toilet paper. We got 2 rolls for 4 people and 3 nights. I went to the reception and asked for more. He looked in his paper and said that he didn’t have any. Why did he look in his papers? Why didn’t he gave me a roll from his toilet or tell me we’re I can buy? it It was 00.00 in the night and we were completely out of paper. So very bad service!
Also the building has 2 entrances on each side of the house. We used the back door and ringed the bell. The guy came for open the door and had a very angry tone that we couldn’t use that door because it’s too loud? Why have an entrance if the guests are not allowed to use it? I’m not a person that complains but the service of the staff was so incredible terrible!!! Why do they have a 24/7 reception if the staff is absolutely uninterested in helping? They will problably answer me that they won’t find my booking but I didn’t...
