Lyme Regis Beach has its own unique charm that managed to shine through. Yes, the stoney beach was a bit challenging to navigate, but it also gave the beach a rugged and natural feel that set it apart from the typical sandy shores. It was a reminder of the raw beauty of nature.
And as for the grumpy trampoline bloke, well, let's just say he added a touch of character to the beach. Sure, he might not have been the most cheerful person, but his dedication to maintaining those trampolines showed a genuine commitment to providing some fun for visitors. Underneath that gruff exterior, I could sense a passion for his work.
But what truly made Lyme Regis Beach special was its breathtaking coastal scenery. The stunning views of the sea stretching out into the horizon were simply mesmerizing. The crashing waves created a soothing soundtrack that blended harmoniously with the seagull cries. It was a place where I could lose myself in the beauty of nature, leaving behind the stresses of everyday life.
And despite the chilly temperature, once I took the plunge into the water, the initial shock transformed into invigorating refreshment. There was something exhilarating about swimming in those clear, albeit slightly murky, waters. It was a welcome escape from the summer heat, and the experience left me feeling alive and rejuvenated.
Moreover, the smaller pebbles on the beach offered a unique opportunity for creativity. Instead of building sandcastles, I found joy in crafting intricate patterns and sculptures with the smooth stones. It was a chance to exercise my imagination and create something beautiful amidst the pebbly landscape.
So, despite the initial grievances, Lyme Regis Beach managed to win me over with its rugged charm, breathtaking scenery, and the chance to embrace a different kind of beach experience. It reminded me that beauty can be found in unexpected places, and sometimes, it's the imperfections that make a place truly memorable. If you're looking for a beach that offers a touch of adventure and a unique atmosphere, Lyme Regis Beach is definitely...
Read moreGreat British beach atmosphere - 45 mins away from Taunton and full of character. Not too busy even when it was good weather, but it was enough to feel vibrant and alive. Fish and chips on the seafront from one of the takeaway stands was simply incredible - huge and tasty cod fillet and lots of chips with plenty of salt and vinegar, just keep an eye on it so the gulls don't swoop in and nick it! Visited the aquarium which isn't large by any measures, but you can get a unique experience feeding the Mullets. You place your hand covered in food into their tank, they swarm around your hand and nibble the food away. There's no teeth so it's like being suckled by 50 wet fish - bizarre and fascinating experience. Delicious Turkish delight flavoured ice cream in a fresh crisp waffle cone was really tasty and different. Wandering around the gift shops, art / craft shops, antique shops and fossil shops was an easy way to spend the afternoon picking up some fossilised shark teeth and insects in Amber. Either get there early for parking or use the park and ride or car parks just out of the centre and walk back in - saves time driving around and around. Overall its a great day out, something for all ages (live band, arcades, fossil shops etc) as well as the beach so if you're in the area just go down and...
Read moreLovely Beach and restaurants on the front, walk to the harbour, and see the boats.
Parking is limited, cars only on the harbour, and no motorhomes allowed at all, so a very long walk up to the car park if you have a motorhome with you.
Not very wheelchair friendly either the walk down , they have a lovely coastal built walk way up to the carpark at the top of the hill, only down side is lots of steps and half way and no good for wheelchairs , prams could probably be bumped up the steps at a push.
The harbour has a lot of restaurants and public toilets along the front, so it's good for that, the cobbles are not that
wheelchair friendly either..
Had lunch in a cafe on the front ..absolutely great value for money nd umbrella was up as started to rain slightly while we were there.. Great service and friendly though in the cafes...
The shops are all on the side streets up the hills so couldn't do alot as had the wheelchair and the street pavements are not that big to get one up really...
Its a nice place to visit , It was quiet today but I'm sure in peak times and summer it will be difficult to park and get about at the bottom.
Always good to see the R NL I with a shop to...
