Largigi — Restaurant in England

What a wonderful gem of a restaurant !! A real diamond !! It's kind of small but the food is fabulous! We ordered Massuman Curry with chicken, sweet and sour king prawns and egg fried rice. The food was really first rate. The chicken was succulent and chunky and the curry sauce was rich and tasty. The sweet and sour dish had plenty of peppers, onions and real pineapple with a generous portion of butterflied king prawns, in a tangy sauce. The egg fried rice was really nice. Again, the portion was generous. Finally, we shared an ice cream; white chocolate and honeycomb. Another generous portion, topped with cream, clotted cream and chocolate sauce. Fabulous !! If we'd had one each, we would never have finished !! All in all, a really splendid meal at a reasonable price !! Absolutely a must if you like Thai food. Five stars? I don't really like to give low reviews because mostly everyone tries their best in the restaurant business and a lot of personality and work goes into it. However, I'm afraid I didn't enjoy my evening Thai meal there as it just didn't seem like it was authentic. I didn't have any fresh herbs or spices you would normally find in Thai food - lemon grass, lime leaves, chilli, coriander etc. The Tom Yum soup should definitely have these things but didnt and was lacking in fragrance. The menu stated my main choice was very very hot but there was no more bite than you would get in a microwave curry. I'm a bit suspicious that the food or sauces were pre-made and just the protein was fried and added just before serving. Beautifully fresh, & respectful of dietary conditions.

We were a party of 11 and 1 of those was a coeliac. We called 3 places before the Largigi and all of which were useless at understanding how important it is to ensure the meal is 100% gluten free, their dismissive attitude meant we could have no trust in them. Then as a pure fluke we spotted Largigi in our google search, and not only was the menu clear with GF items marked out, but when we called we spoke to a fantastic lady who took our order and gave me all the confidence we needed. The meal itself was just as fantastic as the service, and everyone couldn’t get over how fresh all the ingredients tasted. Yum!
