I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Avanti West Coast customer service manager I met today at the Manchester Piccadilly ticket area. Her kindness, professionalism, and care were truly exceptional. Definitely some of the best customer service I’ve received in a long time.

Earlier, I had approached a staff member near the gates with a question about my ticket. Instead of responding appropriately, he behaved in an unacceptable and distressing manner by staring at my chest. I immediately raised the concern when I reached the ticket zone, and that’s when I was introduced to the manager.

She handled the situation with empathy and urgency, making sure I felt safe and supported during a moment of real discomfort. She arranged for me to take an earlier train so I could leave the station promptly, and assured me that the incident would be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

Her response turned a deeply upsetting experience into one where I felt heard, protected, and respected. I’m incredibly grateful for her swift action and compassion.

Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name but if you happen to be reading this review, thank you, truly, for your kindness...

Seems to be a few maintenance issues here. The escalator from taxi rank area going up was noisy and a bit creaky. That did scare me a bit.

One thing I can’t stand is when toilet facilities arnt up to standard, firstly as you enter the gents, there’s a wall of glass blocks what is obscured, also reducing entry capacity at the same time, causing you to bump into people at busy times.

The first thing is the smell of urine hitting you in the face, this can be resolved by a gel what the cleaners can put down the drains weekly to resolve this horrible issue. Secondly the extraction heads above the urinals are all closed. Making the gents a smelly, hot, sweat box. Thirdly the UV light cleaning unit meant to help get rid of the odour isn’t maintained,

But they can spend stupid amounts on art above the urinals what haven’t been cleaned in years.

Finally, I needed to refill my water bottle. The fountain was out of order near the gents on the hottest week of the year!

Then I noticed none of the emergency lighting was powered up above both fire exit doors near the gents.

I do notice everything, the contractors who network rail employ need sacking for that. That...

Manchester Piccadilly is a bustling train station and a key transport hub in the Northwest of England. The station is clean, well-maintained, and offers a variety of shops and eateries, making it convenient for travelers passing through or waiting for their trains. A free city bus service is available, providing easy access to the city center. Piccadilly Gardens is also nearby, offering connections to the wider Greater Manchester area. The station is well-equipped with tram services, lifts, and taxi stands, ensuring smooth and accessible travel for all passengers. The only downside is that staff members act as ticket barriers at some platforms, manually checking tickets instead of automated gates, which can slow things down, especially during busy periods.

This station is big, busy and the staffs are so welcoming. I use the Manchester Piccadilly railway like every other day... And I am so comfortable with their general service.
