St. Peter's Square, located in the heart of Manchester, is a prominent public space known for its historical significance and central location. This square serves as a major civic and cultural hub, offering a vibrant and accessible area for both locals and visitors.

The square is renowned for its impressive architecture and landmarks. It is home to the Manchester Town Hall, a stunning Gothic Revival building that serves as a symbol of the city's heritage and governance. The square also features the Central Library, which provides valuable resources and services to the community.

The St. Peter's Square truly has history written all over it. It's a public square in Manchester City centre with many streets connecting. You have the Princess Street on the North and the Peter Street on the South. To the west of the square is Manchester Central library (the round building),Midland Hotel and Manchester Town Hall extension. The Square is home to many of the city's most important memorials like Manchester Cenotaph, the Emmeline Pankhurst statute, St. Peter's Square Metrolink tram stop (yellow colour) and the Peace Garden. Why is this square important? In 1819, the area around this square was believed to have been the site of the Peterloo Massacre. The square has since continued to receive significant improvements including the central library. At the Manchester cenotaph, there were some crosses laid on the steps. The statue in the middle looks almost like the Lutyen's Whitehall cenotaph in London. It's flanked by twin obelisks. The square was the original location of the memorial cross by Temple Moore marking the location of former St. Peter's Church which was later...

Where is Manchester city center? The answer is simple, it is St. Peter Square. Here is a historical landmark. Firstly, it is a transportation hub. Both the Metrolink station and buses from all areas of Greater Manchester converge here. It is an important place for transferring to other means of transportation. Secondly, the Central Library and the Manchester Art Gallery are both located here. Third, it is right next to China Town and Chinese restaurants. Fourth, there is a dazzling array of different restaurants. Such as Wagamama and so on. Fifth, the most special purpose about this place is that it is an important landmark that can be used to express political opinions, processions and demonstrations. This is a top priority. Sixth, of course you can rest here for a few days and stay in a hotel nearby, and enjoy the restaurants and leisure facilities provided by the first to...

Great place to sit and watch the world go by as well as catch a tram to most of the City Centre as well as the rest of the tram and rail network. You also have Manchester Town Hall and Central Library but it will be much better once the work is completed on the front of the Town Hall on the opposite side to here in Albert Square. A couple of safety issues, beware of pickpockets, like most major towns and cities the world over, Manchester has its fair share of pickpockets to contend with. The other issue is Takeaway Delivery Rider's, as in the rest of Manchester, they are lethal. Flying around on Pedestrian Only Squares and Pavements, racing through red lights, riding the wrong way down One Way Streets. Not forgetting SOME, Electric Scooter Riders, most, do ride them sensibly, taking care when riding but there are some that think they own the roads, and pavements. TAKE CARE

This is one of the main tram stops in the city centre for changing between different lines. To use the tram, just tap in and out on the machine using a contactless card or phone at the start/end of each journey, the best fare will be calculated for you automatically based on usage (make sure you also tap out at your destination, or you would be charged for a day ticket not just for the journey). The round building on the right is the Central Library-don’t miss the reading room on the second floor. The building on the left is the City Council, which is currently undergoing renovation. Opposite the library is the Midland Hotel, rich with fascinating history.

If you are looking for the small memorial to 'The Peterloo massacre at St Peters Square' then you need to walk to the back of the Midlands Hotel but to the left of the Convention Centre. On the footpath are a series of raised concentric concrete discs. Many people don't know that the events at St Peters Fields was the site of this step towards universal manhood suffrage preceding universal women's suffrage by about a century. It isn't a large monument and you could walk by it (or even over it). However the whole of the area is very pleasant as other reviewers have described, and it is worth a moment of reflection here.
