Lots of avian wildlife along this stretch of The Thames.
There are plenty of benches to sit on and watch the world go by, as well as extensive lawn areas on which to sunbathe or have picnics in the summer.
There's a children's paddling pool and playground. Tennis courts. Public conveniences.
Some lovely trees, especially a line of Lombardy poplars, which can be seen on the edge of the eastern boundary. The pedestrian bridge is a worthy addition to the Meadows.
There's a nice area right by the end of Wolsey Road where you can sit on benches and watch the boats. There are a lot of bird families on that stretch of the river. They enjoy the floating bird seed, which can be conveniently bought at Homecrafts, the brilliant hardware store in Prospect Street.
Christchurch Meadows is a charming, tranquil area to spend time in. The birdlife is wonderful. When I was seriously ill in the hospital, I daydreamed of being here. It's an idyll, a piece of paradise,...
Read moreA place for everyone, great fenced play area for toddlers which seems to be well maintained. There are football pitches, tennis courts, walking trails which stretches along the river and can be very therapeutic for the distance leisure walker. Christchurch Meadow is vast and littered with different seating, so one can always stop and watch the grass grow,or have a picnic. I don't know if fishing is permitted but there are some cool spots along the river where one could cast off and idle the day away. Christchurch Meadow, is a place where one could find tranquility. Within the Meadow there are Islands one of which is a wildlife sanctuary, with tranquil space and there one can find or loose one-self. And don't forget there's a lot going on on the river, within the Meadow. Eg boat rides, bed&breakfast barge's/boats, Cafe's and restaurants. Yes Christchurch Meadow can be a place that most can find a space for leisure. Also the beautiful swans must...

The Thames alongside for a walk and feed your crusts to the ducks. Need a picnic and drinks, nothing nearby. Ice cream van that has parked there for literally years and years doesn't seem to go there anymore. Parking on the other side of the road, walk under the bridge, car park not too dear compared to some. I think it was £3.20 for two...
