Very good hong Kong style cafe, reminds me of really good Cantonese food that used to be abundant, this place used to be a kebab shop so if the kitchen looks familiar and the kebab sign above the shop look familiar then you're not hallucinating. There's not many seats, so I'd make a reservation if you want to guarantee a place, otherwise you may need to rely on the kindness of strangers and share a table. Prices are very reasonable, portions are decent for mains but noodles and fried rice dishes are substantial. I would describe this as a very good takeaway, not quite restaurant level but then it's not a restaurant. The sweet and sour chicken, crispy baked chicken, baked pork chop with salt and pepper, chicken satay were all excellent. The meat was really tender, I think you need to eat it fresh rather than as a takeaway to appreciate the high standard of cooking. The Singapore noodles was the only disappointing dish for me, it was OK, I've had better, I prefer it drier, with less curry paste but this is a personal preference. The food was so good I ordered more dishes for takeaway to eat later. You can park in the nearby residential streets but it's resident permits only outside 9 to 5:30pm weekdays and all weekend, or you can park at Hill medows car park opposite which is 2 mins walk but that will cost 3.10 for 3 hours at the weekend. There is a toilet but it's sort of like a staff toilet that looks abandoned which may freak you out if you're a germaphobe, especially as there's a shower basin next to you. I hope this place becomes more successful, expands, and sorts it's toilet out. Highly...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic experience at Good Old Days Hong Kong Ltd! From the moment we walked in, the lady taking our order was incredibly helpful and friendly. She not only made us feel welcome but also recommended the boneless deep-fried pork chop with chilli salt—an absolute game changer. The flavours were spot on, crispy yet tender, and packed with the perfect amount of spice.
The food here is truly authentic Cantonese, and you can taste the quality in every bite. I had the mixed meat chow mein, and it was full of flavour with generous portions of meat. The egg fried rice was so fresh, you could taste the difference, and the beef in black bean sauce was rich and perfectly cooked. The sweet and sour chicken had the perfect balance of tangy and crispy, just like you’d expect from a proper Cantonese takeaway. Even the prawn crackers were freshly cooked—something I’ve never had before!
We sat down to wait for our food, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It’s clear they take pride in both their service and food quality. If you’re looking for authentic Cantonese food, this is the place to go. Will definitely...
