Opened in May 2009 at a cost of £6m and renovated in 2021 to provide improved lighting it’s another architectural landmark in the city. Utilising Scandinavian design and constructed by Halcrow civil engineers it’s known colloquially as the “Squiggly bridge” and more formally as the Tradeston bridge. Spanning the Clyde it allows access to the beautifully curated financial district and Barclays embankment with lovely landscaping and flower beds. The distinctive S shape allows the bridge to elevate and give access to boats without being steep for pedestrian and cyclists. A great piece of design.

This is a stunning destination that truly comes alive on a sunny day. The serene atmosphere invites you to unwind and soak in the surroundings. With its convenient access to the bustling city center, it serves as a perfect retreat from the urban hustle. Here, you can settle in comfortably and let your worries drift away while you admire the breathtaking views that stretch before you. Whether you choose to read a book or simply gaze into the distance, this spot is ideal for relaxation and rejuvenation.

An interesting pedestrian cross bridge (no cars) over the river Clyde. I like its architecture. However, sadly, I find the promenade along the river pretty depressing. We have strolled there during sunny Saturday afternoon and it was quite empty with just few groups of loud drinking young people here and there. It didn’t feel unsafe but was disturbing. I was lacking some cafes and facilities which would attract people to spend more time here and contribute to the good vibe.

Worth a visit, I suppose, if only for its novelty value, and to take a few moments to wonder exactly how our local authorities can pay out tax payers' hard earned money on arty-farty constructions such as this one when a simple footbridge over the River Clyde was all that was required. No doubt somebody, somewhere, within Glasgow City Council would be able to explain the rationale behind the decision to commission such a piece of nonsense, although don't hold your breath at ever finding out the true cost to the public purse. The architect and the construction company must have laughed all the way...

What a lovely place to go for a walk. Excellent for clearing your head. Just take your camera with you as it's beautiful down there. The squiggly bridge is just that a squiggly bridge. What can I say. Used by a lot of people every day and cyclists and wheel chair users. Most people climb he spires holding the bridge and just sit there but eventually they are moved on by police or they just generally run as they see the police. It's in Glasgow bustling or close to Glasgow's bustling secc and event venue the hydro. Please ty amenities you can use nearby. Toilets somewhere...
