Booked our Tickets on the day released in order to get best seats available. we got seats in row C in the stalls ....we received a e mail to say 2 of the 4 tickets had been cancelled..after many days trying to get through we finally spoke to a person to be advised their had been a mistake and we would need to collect on the night, we arrived 45 mins before concert start to be told that they couldn't find our 4 seats..
After ten minutes waiting they came out with tickets for 5 rows back all separated. After questioning a very untrained person who advised me "she was a booking office manager she said that was what we had booked " . I showed her our initiall booking confirmation and she more or less called us liar's.. she then went back and said she had sorted it ...this time she proceeded to give us 4 tickets even further back again all separated..I asked if I could speak to venue manger she blatantly lied telling me no other manager than herself on duty .. she proceeded to blame ticketmaster . at this time we could hear the concert starting so we asked for our money back...she said I would need to contact ticketmaster for refund ... " surely ticket master had not kept all funds and passed this on to the City hall" at this stage she was clearly out of her depth and asked me to wait ...
low and behold a gentleman called Andy Bridger appeared going into the office ...then with only knowing half of the issue proceeded to introduce himself as venue Manager .. I had obviously been told a blatant lie by the untrained staff member, he said they have offered a suitable resolution sitting 8 rows back not all together " not what we had booked and paid for nearly year ago, ...I proceeded to say I was unhappy with that due to having a person classed as disabled and would be contacting a local paper .. I said I found it unacceptable and wanted a refund.. low and behold the refund could be processed by themselves..
I have visited the city hall many times and never had a issue .. but on this occasion we felt let down by staff blatantly lying, not following disability laws and obviously not caring...

Went here to see Geddy Lee on his 'My Effin' Life' tour. All the staff were really helpful, and seats were comfortable. Surprisingly so, since I've had bad sciatica for the last two weeks, and sitting on hard seats REALLY aggravates it.
The only minor niggle was it was bloody cold, as if someone had left a door open where I was sitting (it was close to freezing outside). Had to put my coat on - which I was glad I took with me.
And - to be expected - refreshments were a bit pricey. A normal bottle of Fanta was £2.50. But I fully expected this, since it is the same everywhere, so not complaining at all.
Good venue, though. And a great show. No serious complaints at all.
One thing about Sheffield right now (December 2023) to be wary of is that it is full of bloody roadworks (and I thought Nottingham was bad). The satnav - and both Tom Tom and the one in my Ford - told me to go in a certain direction at two roundabouts in the city centre, but the roundabouts have been taken out and there are road blockages and fences everywhere. In fact, trying to find my way on foot back to the car park I'd used using Google Maps, I also fell foul of road closures even on foot. Just bear all this in mind if navigating to this...
Read moreMany people attending the philharmonic concert on Saturday were unhappy that no hot drinks were available in the main basement bar. There used to be cakes and snacks available but not anymore. (I think hot drinks were available in the small ground level bar but there's no seating in that area and older customers prefer to sit down.) It feels as though it's failing its customers. Our bottled Prosecco, £8 per small plastic cup, didn't taste good but as you're not given the bottle you can't see exactly what you are drinking or check the sell by date. I would recommend asking to look at the bottle before it's opened. The concert hall was half empty, they should bring back cheap standby tickets to fill the seats. They used to be available but were stopped when the management changed. Needs a bit of creative management to help keep the philharmonic concert crowd attending. Apparently, according to someone sitting nearby, hot drinks were not available for the previous concert either, we are approaching winter and this needs sorting out on behalf of the many faithful...
