Manahatta — Restaurant in Sheffield

Me and my friend came here on Thursday to get a drink to celebrate her 21st Birthday. As we approached the bar, the bouncer asked to check our ID. We both gave him our IDs and he starts checking them with a UV torch. He gives my friends ID back to her but starts saying that mine is fake??? Even though I am 21 and bought it off the government website. He says it looks fake because my UV light is different from my friends. But if he knew anything about his job he should of known that the UV lights recently got changed last year. I know this because I work at a bar and we sometimes UV check IDs. My friends ID was a 2022 one whereas mine was from 2020 so obviously my UV won’t be the same as my friends. The bouncer wouldn’t listen and then started to say that I can’t have my ID back and that he is going to give it to the police. I start to get upset as I was going to uni on the Monday and have a festival coming up, so I need my id especially when this whole ordeal is so stupid and is all because this incompetent man didn’t know his facts. He then started to say that he had a complaint from tiger works saying a girl was trying to use a fake ID to get in 10 minutes prior to me and my friend coming to manhatta. This information had NOTHING to do with me and my friend as we were out at Pho having a civilised meal, then paid, then walked 2 min to come to manhatta. I even showed the bouncer a photo of our meal. He just wouldn’t listen to me it was so frustrating almost seemed like he was profiling us as there was no reason my ID seemed fake. He eventually got his colleague to come have a look and he didn’t really say anything at all. I tell the bouncer that I’m going to phone my mum as I wasn’t sure what to do as I needed to get my ID back. He didn’t believe I was on the phone to my mum and asked to speak with her to his surprise I was on the phone with her!!! At that stage the bouncers colleague tells him to give the ID back to me and then he also tells me I’m banned from coming here again !!??? Which is just ridiculous as I have done nothing wrong (I would never come back to this establishment anyway) Your staff need to educate themselves better so this doesn’t happen to other people it was so embarrassing for me and ruined my friends birthday. Four of us attended bottomless party here last night, started off strong, was seated at the right time, by a pleasant man at front of house. A lady came over straight away to start pouring glasses of Prosecco, there was about a 10/15 minute wait between ordering and getting our first drink, but this can be forgiven, as the all the rest came out in good time, the food came quick and was nice. But my main issue with this bottomless, was the drinks was awful. We mentioned this part way through to another lady who came to collect glasses and asked if we was finished with a few glasses that was still full, I mentioned that it tasted awful. 2 of our party had ordered a drink at the start that actually tasted really nice. So we ordered them towards the end in hopes of a decent drink and it came tasting awful, was way to strong and acidic, was completely un drinkable, I believe this was an issue with the glass size. Around 15-20 minutes before the end of booking, I addressed to the lady the problems we had with the drinks, and her response was “ is there anything you did like” to which I responded about enjoying the food and the service has been good. What I assume was a manager came across “ have you got a problem with the service” he was speaking in quite a patronising tone the whole time, and didn’t seem to want to hear what we had to say, I mentioned that the glasses wasn’t correct for that drink, to which he responded that the taller glasses was all in use, which was fair enough, but maybe order some more glasses? There wasn’t a professional attitude from the manager, he also said to us “ why didn’t you tell anyone sooner, you’ve been here for nearly 2 hours” but we had already mentioned it to someone part way through. No apologies was given. After this, the lady’s attitude had completely changed towards us. Such a shame, as it’s such a great venue and we thought it would be the perfect spot for bottomless, as we’re been here previously on a night out ( not bottomless) and had a great time maybe it was an off day, but I wouldn’t recommend. What a disappointment!! Will NOT be returning!! I had my Hen party booked here for a party of 17, because of the size we had to pre order all our food and I phoned it through a week prior. I was assured that we had the room booked upstairs for the size of our party and that we had our own bar! I was on the phone to head office quite a few times as I wanted it to be done right and make it special. So when we arrived , we was greeted with staff saying the upstairs was closed due to being short staffed and we were seated downstairs. Firstly they didn’t accommodate enough seating for our party, both ends was too far away for you to eat a meal! I had to wait for the manager to come into work to complain about the seating to which she said that they had no confirmation saying it was a hen party and due to lack of staff this is it basically what your getting. At this point I spoke to head office (Ellis) she apologised however could really do anything and told me it was down to the manager to rectify the problem. We were booked in at 2pm and eventually at 3pm we were moved upstairs! Then every food order was messed up , they didn’t even have the food intolerance email we had sent and also told over the phone!! They had to take orders again, then when the food came out one of the parties was wrong, there wasn’t enough cutlery and no condiments, the food was over cooked on some and others wasn’t enough so a couple of my party ordered more fries . NO ONE came to see if we were ok or needed anything, the only time they came was when we were laying the bill! The staff we felt wasn’t helpful at all! We thought they might knock something off our bill or at least give us a couple of bottles , but nothing!! Not even thanks for coming. It was the worst organised party and heavily regret booking there! Not one of my party will be coming back to manahatta sheffield! I wasn’t expecting to be in tears on my hen do!!
