To say I'm Absolutely appauled at the way we were treated for my daughters 20th on Saturday would be an understatement.

we booked online and received a reservation number, only to arrive at the venue on time and to be told we don't have a reservation as online table reservations doesn't work anymore, why the hell is it still on the website then! After asking the member of staff if there was a table available for seven then he replied with an annoyed tone and said "I will have a look I suppose" upon waiting around for 5 minutes we noticed he was serving instead of dealing with the matter at hand! After stopping him and asking if there was he told us "no" and walked off!!!!

So in short their systems don't work, the member of staff who served us was rude and to top it off we were told with a single word that even though it wasnt our fault, they weren't going to do anything about it!!!!

Now while I understand this sort of establishment can be hectic, surely customer satisfaction should be their top priority? Not serving disappointment and making paying customers wonder around Sheffield for an hour and a half looking for somewhere for food while their daughter sobs her eyes out!!!!!

So as a warning don't book online as you will receive the same...

Visited yesterday to have a beer with some work friends. This was my first beer of the day after doing a little xmas shopping. I was asked by the owner to remove my woollen Ted Baker cap, I asked him why must I remove my headwear when there were several other gentlemen wearing perky blinder caps (with peaks) and others with beanie hats to which he replied "I have a problem with baseball caps" (yes this came from the manager!) he then asked me to leave and asked a bouncer to escort me out. I wasn't aggressive in the slightest and giving my point about others wearing caps he didn't even have the decency to look me in the eye or even allow me to speak freely. The owner behaved in an extremely unprofessional manner, he was rude and also discriminative towards me. I genuinely feel sorry for this very small minded man and will not enter this establishment again with such a low life at the helm. Having spoken with his staff, who themselves looked absolutely disgusted with his behaviour, they informed me that he is often rude like this and they apologised on his behalf. The bouncer who escorted me out had much harsher words to say about the manager but I will not repeat.

100% genuine and honest review. His behaviour warrents this at...

Looking for a pleasant spot to grab a drink and something to eat in Sheffield city centre? Then check out The Bessemer!

A lovely spot just a minute’s walk from city hall, this is a nice balance of traditional pub and modern bar, being easily accessed from street level and offering comfortable seating/dining space. The food menu is decently priced and has a good variety of traditional pub fare as well as lighter options for those seeking something to just sate themselves.

Staff are attentive without being bugging, which is also a nice distinction from other such establishments. Music is of a comfortable level too - loud enough to be enjoyed without being too loud as to prevent easy conversation. The only slight detractor to the overall atmosphere of The Bessemer is the slight dinginess, though on a hot day this was actually appreciated as it made it...

Place looks lovely, bar staff were nice and beer was reasonable but I certainly would not recommend eating here. I had the chicken, ham and leek pie which was nice, however the 'seasonable' vegetables were hardly that unless you consider the seasons of Iceland and the mash is the only mash potato I've ever had to eat by literally cutting it up with my knife. It had clearly been sitting around for much of the day and was warm at best. Covering it in gravy helped but the dish was certainly not worth nearly a tenner. Would have mentioned the issues to staff but no one asked us.

Dont judge this place by the outside...its lovely on the inside...its done up real nice on the inside..comfortable chairs to sit on...tables are a bit wobbly and a bit sticky so watch your elbows..beer is good they know how to pour a good pint that's for sure..had a foot long mac n cheese which was bloody tasty..macaroni could have been a bit warmer but still tasty...staff are a decent lot..very polite and helpful...this place is full of characters which makes for a cracking night out...good music too...defo recommend anyone giving this place a visit..

We had a midweek wedding reception in the upstairs area. Charlotte was great throughout and very responsive to emails which helped with the planning/organising. She was also happy for us to reorganise the tables and provide our own decorations. The buffet was great and good value for money. It was a quieter atmosphere to what you may have a the weekend, but this fit in perfectly with what we wanted. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day, adding to a perfect day for us!
