Ankerside Shopping Centre — Attraction in Tamworth

I find it very difficult to even heap praise on a once vibrant centre that has store occupied by temporary traders or displays in the frontages. 3 of the biggest units are still empty which were once occupied by Dunnes, Savers and Argos. Even the old Coventry building society unit remains empty on the ramp after a number of years. If it's the case of rent then lower the rates. If it's the case you can't attract high name stores then find someone who can. My last point is that i don't approve of smoking paraphernalia within a child's toy store. Wether that be vaping or otherwise this kind of store should be given the boot. I'm sure the centre isn't that needy of money for rent that they allow this but the this is proven otherwise. Since the new centre manager has been employed i have not seen anything that will change my views nor can i see or envisage any future change but i suppose...

Definitely needs a revamp. Of the four lifts installed, only two work. One at least has been out of action for months.

Paying for the car parking by cash is now much more difficult since Hozah have taken over. Two cash/card machines and two card only machines. Tonight one of the cash machines would not accept cash so I decided to deal with it at the exit office - except it was closed. Try to find a phone number on Hozah’s website? Impossible. Rang Ankerside direct? One wrong number supplied and nobody in the office on my second attempt. Third attempt also failed at security. Walked back up to find somebody. After all, nobody wants a £60 fine because their cash machine doesn’t work do they? Stumbled over the second cash machine which worked but only reluctantly.

Got to be honest, I drove away asking myself why I parked in this broken down dump. I don’t think...

Ankerside is supposed to close at 6PM, however they actually shut every entrance except one as soon as the clock hits 5:30PM & then don't let anyone else in. After we had visited a number of stores in Ankerside on Saturday, we were just about to leave via the west entrance (approximately 5:30pm) when a security guard bluntly told us to "turn around" and leave via the other exit. We then passed another security guard (who seems to be ordering fried chicken on the phone...), both of them then followed us, like we were some sort of criminals.
