We visited Whitby for our wedding anniversary. After looking for somewhere to dine we stumbled onto this gem!!

Immediately greeted by Dominic, who was very passionate about hospitality and the way he and the team made us comfortable was amazing!

We slipped into a few drinks ( thoroughly recommend the expresso martini) we decided to return another night and eat.

If you are luckily enough to enjoy the sofa seating by the front window you can gaze out onto the harbour and daydream whilst the sun goes down.

On our anniversary we decided to eat and I had the steak whilst my wife went for ceasar salad with a shared portion of potatoes- ( which were amazeballs as was my steak)! The food portions are great if you are deciding to move on for a few drinkypoos afterwards- don’t expect a great big slop of pub grub!! The Chef and kitchen team are passionate on presenting high quality food and their passion comes through on the pallet-

If you are like me and enjoy paying for quality food, drinks and service this place will not disappoint.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our 3 visits to the moon and sixpence and would like to thanks Dom, the owner ( who’s name slips my mind - that’s the martini)! And the whole service team.

We will be back!!...

We used to go here every time we visited Whitby which is why we booked to go here on a recent visit back , the menu seemed very limited to what I remember, we had various starters in the group and myself having the scampi which was beautiful then for the mains most of the party ordered steak Patty burgers to then be told they only had one left which is understandable as it was a busy weekend so three or us then opted for the chicken alternative but when it came it was three or four chicken goujons on a bread cake ( I believe it was advertised as this but I'm not sure because we had looked at the steak ones we had tried to order ) when the chicken burger item come it was pretty nice but the chips they all came with were pretty inedible as they were that heavily salted so these were left on the plate by most of the party ( again I do believe the fries are advertised as salted fries) but why not just serve fries and let people season them to personal taste , the staff was very pleasant and it's still a lovely place to visit for a drink but I think they need to get back up to old standards concerning the food and If they do we will have no problem in...

We have visited Whitby for a number of years and wanted to try somewhere different for our evening meal. Unfortunately the price of the evening menu here does not reflect in the quality of the food. Me & my husband had the pork belly and prawn soft tacos. There were two very small tacos each containing 3 pieces of filling in each. Costing £15 per plate with no sides included. The sides were an additional cost. Our friends had numerous small plates which consisted of the pork belly bites which were dry and chicken wings with a very minimal drizzle of sauce over wings which were not marinated. The hand cut chips were delicious and chicken strips were ok but on reflection we could of paid much less else where for better quality food and much bigger portions. Upon payment the service wasn’t great either. There was no question of if we enjoyed our meal and was asked to tap our card for payment with no prompt of the total. Which in addition to a disappointing meal left us having an overall poor experience. Unfortunately, we will not...

Firstly visited this place a couple of years ago and it was excellent and couldn't fault the place. I'm aware that it is now under new ownership the experience this time round was a bit of a mixed bag. I can't fault the front of house /bar staff especially a very friendly and very professional lady called Sharn who saw to our every need and was determined to make sure we had a great experience. The issue was similar to a previous review to find the menu a bit hit and miss with no deserts available and originally we were told there was no lobster however Sharn went above and beyond and investigated the issue and after awhile and managed to source some, I would like to thank you again for this great effort ! Once we got our food it was great the lobster was dressed properly and very meaty and overall worth the wait. The starters we had the prawns and the chicken strips were delicious. The choice of beer and other drinks is also excellent. This is a place I would come back to and hope the niggles are ironed out.

Well we've been here for a few days now .. The Moon and Sixpence was initially closed but looked really good.. as soon as it opened we went in for snacks and drinks.. and boy were we happy that we waited! The ambience is one of lovely modern relaxed cool with a great choice of gentle background music.. the best thing was talking to the girls there .. the Moon has undergone a change of management and crikey for me its the only place in Whitby to go! Without a full menu or drinks menu all the team were brilliant and helpful and making almost any drink you wanted.. the food was great as well with a limited menu but cooked really well. We went back the evening after for a meal and an evening with the team.. it was fun and cool and relaxed and considering the constraints of changing suppliers and everything the whole evening was great .. mainly because of the staff who all excelled despite the challenges. For me this is The Place it Whitby and will definitely be my usual haunt... BRILLIANT

My master Vlad Dracul III (Dracula) has asked me to convey his thanks and to review your wonderful establishment: Good Day, I am always in a sea of wonders crossing the threshold of the Moon & Sixpence. This wondrous establishment ensnares the senses through a combination of professional and personal service and where the art of mixology intertwines with the mysteries of the night. The exquisite hosts within (there may be a Vampyre or two among them ... they are fabulous) attend to your needs with perfection. These alchemists are adept at transforming cocktails, mocktails and personal creations into liquid enchantments, in a location which is one of the most perfect for mortal and harbour watching. I look forward to entering every time I come to Wonderful Whitby. Long may this establishment continue to be a truly social haven for the diversity of townsfolk, visitors and creatures of the night alike. Until the next time... Yours Vampyrically, Vlad Dracul III (Dracula)
