THE XIII — Attraction in Alameda

We moved to the Bay Area a few years ago and have struggled to find a barber to cut my husband’s hair. We’ve tried SF, Oakland, Walnut Creek and beyond, but he always left disappointed. I came across Felix Nestor on instagram after seeing his posts (and seeing that he has similar hair texture to my husband) and immediately booked an appointment. It was really easy to book on their website.

When we came to the appointment it was 5-star from beginning to end! First, the shop looks really incredible, it’s clean, everyone is wearing matching smocks, and it looks professionally run. I didn’t know Felix was the owner, but you can tell that this shop is run with pride by the owner, who himself cuts hair as well! There was a very comfy couch for me and I observed that this place runs like clock work - the chairs are not empty, clients are seen exactly on time and they really aren’t going to make you wait hour after your appointment. I was impressed by the haircuts - all of the barbers seemed incredibly skilled and offered other services like beard trimming, facials, etc. They had a machine that was cleaning up hair automatically, which was a nice touch.

My husbands haircut is the best he’s ever had. Felix took the time to listen and really understand exactly what he wanted and delivered. He used a combination of clippers, scissors and shears. Afterwards, he used a pomade that really brought it together and luckily we were able to buy the product there - they have a full line of products, which made it easy. It’s really hard to get my husband to go to a beauty store for these kind of things.

Finally, I felt welcomed here. I usually feel like women aren’t allowed in barber shops but the owner was extremely kind! They also have a huge tv where you can watch soccer or other sports. I’m really grateful for finding this place!...

I was looking for a new barber for my 11 yr old son who has high functioning autism. He has been getting his hair cut professionally for six years. I wanted to find someone who was professional, has a calm demeanor, and answered his questions if he had any. I called the owner Felix and asked if he could recommend one of his barbers and he recommended Papito D. He was amazing he had this calm demeanor about him which put my autistic son at ease because he is more relax if the person cutting his hair is chill. He asked my opinion about how I wanted his haircut to look like. I basically told him that he could cut it as he felt it would look right for his head. I wanted a bald fade and I got an amazing cut. It’s been difficult to find a barber that can cut my curly hair with precision.

Went to see Felix Nestor and was very specific about what I wanted, yet had trouble explaining it.

It was like he knew what picture I had in my head and took the time to explain what he was going to do to achieve the look I wanted.

The fade in the back was superb and he also showed me how to style it with product at the end.

He used scissors, sheers, and clippers! That’s how I knew he was dedicated to his craft!

Highly recommend Felix and his team, I saw about 15 people show up on time and leave on time with huge smiles on their faces walking back into the world like new members of society.
