The pro's are: Great grocery market with a nice salection of a variety of wholesome quality foods. The cons are customer management at the register. There has been many times I approach the cashier place my groceries on the cashier's conveyor belt, then wait for the conversation my cashier is having with a coworker about non job related details I have experienced this from everyone who works there as a cashier, other times from one cashier in particular I am owned and struggle to be allowed a mutual communication do to the cashier bossing me around telling me normal things in a abnormal manner, such as if I want a bag, I say no I get one anyway, I say yes this one cashier in particular will give me a bag while asking me again if I want a bag even though I clearly said yes, the cashier wasn't paying attention to what I have to say, today this cashier pressured the payment process to be rushed as always then took the card reader away when it was not done prossessing then turned it back over to me once the cashier learns I still had to put my pin in at this point I was rushed to take my card out before I put my pin in as the payment was still in process, so I then put my pin # I'n and the card reader gave a error code saying chip read error, probably from being rushed through the process, as this happens the store phone rings half of one ring and the cashier stops my transaction completely taking on the phone and yelling for a coworker to come and talk about what ever the phone call was about. And that's it I walked out with no groceries I didn't want to spend another 5 minutes of being rushed and ignored by my cashier. This was about 30-35 minutes prior to writing this review. Idk about everyone else but I can't help but give up on this place I believe the customer at the register should be shown the equivalent amount of priority as the customer on the phone or writing a review as a priority over personal conversations or just out rite owning the customer and only showing a value to the business of the customers...

Great little market place. This place has a little bit of everything. . Located downtown this place primarily caters to two distinct clients, although this is certainly a place you must experience at least once. . Primarily a local and downtown clientele there are selection of everyday desires, from shampoo, cleaning supplies and paper plates to groceries, fresh seafood, international food selections and all sorts of drinks. . In addition to being located downtown and serving the needs of locals this place is a great place to visit for a bite to eat. Whether to grab and go, or have a seat in their dining deli/coffee table area. . For sure this place has whatever that couple or family on holiday/vacation might want. From a sort of mini soaps, meds and shampoo to a deli serving fresh made to order sandwiches served on daily baked breads at the the L'aroma Bakery. Which bakes and excellent pizza priced perfectly to go or eat in. . Also featuring a hot bar serving a selection of freshly cooked hot meals from typical comfort food to some Chinese dishes, soups and a salad bar. . Whatever your desires are this place has probably got it or a few alternatives. This should be on your must check out list whether you're visiting Anchorage, Alaska or if you're a life time resident it is sure to offer even specialty shoppers or lunch time snackers a little...

I’ve been going to City Market for over 4 years as it’s super close to my home and overall just convenient. I’ve overlooked the higher costs of everything there because of the convenience. However, I rarely feel welcome there, if I’m even acknowledged as a customer. Nine times out of ten the cashier does not greet me, engage in any sort of courtesy, and continues to have a conversation with the other cashier over or around me. I feel bad for tourists who go there and get the same treatment because, let’s be honest, the summer tourists are likely what keeps this location going. After my visit today I have finally decided the convenience is not worth the feeling of being a burden on the employees and I will not go back. I can get the same items, and more, at Carrs or FM at a fraction of the cost and be way more than ok with the same lack of customer service and courtesy. In fact, I expect poor service at those places. I’m not sure how a business can offer items at such a high price and bad customer service and expect to operate...

A well stocked supermarket with a seating area with utensils and sauces provided for having your meal. You can get a proper lunch box for less than $10. There's also a soup and salad bar, bakery and a fresh seafood section. Fruits tend to be expensive though. You can get a cup of coffee from the cafe inside the supermarket too. It's within walking distance from downtown although it might be difficult to walk there during winter with slippery ice on the sidewalks. It's the only proper supermarket downtown as far as I know though. Go before 2 pm if you want to get their lunch box or else most might be sold out.

Just bought these hot dog buns at New Sagaya City Market along with some sausage and sauerkraut for lunch. Got home, ate lunch and didn't notice the obvious mouse eaten portion of bun until I was cleaning up. The buns are dated today and I bought them an hour ago! This makes me ill to think I ate out of the same bag. Last time I shop here...
