Turtle Grove Park — Attraction in Albany

It's a great place for kids to play but they really need to clean it up. New mulch needs to be applied at the least. Much needed update: They no longer have mulch but some rubber material has been installed that is much nicer. I wish there were more shady spots so you don’t burn to a crisp during the summer. They have swings in the front if you want to just relax and read alone. The welcome center is also right there. Sometimes they have turtles and the kids love them. They also have bathrooms inside which are nicer and cleaner than the ones on the property. Please be careful with your kids and watch them. There are homeless people that walk around (not in the playground) and people do come out of town. Regardless it’s no one else’s responsibility to watch your child but yours. No one likes to get an amber alert on their phone. I consider a safe park but I wouldn’t come if no one else were there. You just never know. This park has many potentials that could be added to it. I hope in my lifetime the bike trail is extended South to the country line Ask the sheriff if he could create a program to build houses for birds and ducks. This would be great for bird watcher and kids. Also feeders for hummingbirds and seasonal birds. Plant certain plants that would attract butterflies. Furthermore name the animals, insects and plants with a description indigenous. If the plants or trees has medicinal properties teach it, if there are non plant them as well as being dangerous. This is a fun little park. Our child had fun on all the different slides. However I feel that since it's so close to a busy street it should really have a gate system around it so children can't just walk out to the street. While we were there a small child was walking around looking for his mom and walked out to the side walk before walking back to the playground. That's partially on the parents for not watching closely enough but given how many children are running around it should be harder for them to make it out of the play area...
