The check in was great. I checked in through the app and requested a digital. About an hour and a half before my scheduled arrival time a young lady, I believe her name was Jessica, gave me a call. She was as perhaps one of the nicest people I have ever spoken to and requested that I stop in at the front desk to confirm my payment method. Not a problem since I usually grab a physical key as well. She was just as nice in person. Parking here is not the best. They have a very small lot to left of the building with key access and an even smaller lot out front. What boggles my mind is that they have a largest lot to the right of the building but no key access, you have to walk around to the front lobby door. That is less than pleasurable when it is rain as the walkway is not covered.
The restaurant in the lobby is small, but nice. The menu is limited. I ate here my first night and had their burger. I was really pleased with it though, and would get it again. My server was awesome! She was so sweet and attentive. I just had water, but my glass never went empty. The odd bit is that they don't do room service. I work in my room often and find the convenience a big plus.
The rooms are a bit older, but we're comfortable enough. The shower heads are great and have really good pressure. The beds are nice enough that I slept really well my first and second nights. This may seem odd to mention, but the TV's are positioned toward the front of the dresser. This makes watching TV while sitting at the desk awkward at best.
I switched rooms after my second night because I found ants on my bed side table and one in the bed I was sleeping in. I get that stuff like that can happen so it doesn't freak me out too much, but I'm can't stay in that room. I took a picture of one of the ants and headed down to the front desk. I spoke to the young man behind the counter requesting a different room mentioning the ants. He only asked my room number and went to using his computer. I showed him the picture of the ants to which he replied "yup, that's an ant." There were no apologies for the inconvenience of switching rooms, no apologies for bugs in the bed I was sleeping in, no acknowledgement that anything was out of the ordinary. I know it is not his fault, but he should be apologizing on behalf of the hotel. I was not seeking anything free. I am a Diamond member and the Hilton brand has taken good care of me. While laying in bed for my third night I decided that I am switching hotels and heading to the Hilton in Tifton. Pain in the butt, but that just rubbed me...
Read moreThere are quite a few issues here. Keep in mind that its $150 a night in late August. We were given the wrong room number at first, and our key wouldnt work. They will charge you for parking, even if you don't park in their very small, limited parking lot - which is not secured. There isn't a spa. The spa (which means a heated round pool) has been filled in. The pool is "out of service until further notice" and is an odd shade of green that you can't see through. You are billed $15 for incidentals up front and your parking comes out of that money. You get 5 bucks back if you don't drink any of the bottled waters in the room. They are $2.50 each. The fountains in the hallways to get water do not work. The elevator smells hot, like someone just blew out a candle in there, every time we used it. Reservations are not refundable. You also have to pay for usable wifi internet. Although there was a port to hard wire in. I'm not sure what the cost for that was, as my laptop is wireless. I couldn't use their "free" internet to run my work software. (Premium is almost $5 a day). There is also a pretty hefty homeless community that hangs out at the Ray Charles Park next door at night - and they have complete access to the paid, unmonitored parking lot. The room did have clean bedding, but the bathroom was not clean. There was a ring around the toilet and mildew in the tub on the caulking. There was no shampoo. The carpet had water stains around the AC and in front of the chair. The linens were fraying on the beds. The coffee maker had trash in the water well. Which makes me wonder if there is free coffee down stairs since there is a restaurant and breakfast is not included in the stay. The light on the phone began to flash in the middle of the light and no amount of "message" button pressing would stop it. Sure, we could have called about these issues, but pressing the guest service button went no where either. Just a repeating beep. The TV is small with very limited selections on channels. You can't use a roku unless you buy the premium internet. Upon checkout, we asked if there was water to fill our cups. We offered water to purchase from...
