High Desert Council, Scouting America — Attraction in Albuquerque

The one star is a gift. In need of desperate new leadership including some of the "top" volunteers. The scout executive who destroyed this council finally left but his minions continue to feed the acid to the volunteers and continue to kill this program. What a shame, this was once a great council. The Scouting program is amazing, just our council needs help. This council has continued a steep decline in youth. It will be gone soon. Poor customer service, poor leadership, poor follow through. Find a troop and you wont have to deal with this council. Best thing national could do is merge this council!!

EDIT: WOOT WOOT!! I am excited to hear they merged with another council. It is a sad day but maybe a new name will help. They need a new council commissioner. I hope with this merge they get rid of the current one. He think this s his career. He has been there too long for...

The Cons. I had extremely high hopes to show Gorham Scout Ranch an Amazing Chef with Excellent food that they may have never seen before. Comes out that you will be paid literally a month after being there. After working 16+ hours a day, 7 days a week, no breaks, and sleeping in a tent. I did not receive my last check, had to call and received it a month later. Only to find out I got paid for a half a days work... Calling the New Mexico labor board! The Pros. Ranger Bob...

I stopped in to the scout store to pick up a few accessories for my son. The clerk at the scout store could only talk about money. That appears to be all the BSA is interested in anymore - money. They really don't care about your boys but they do care about them bringing in cash with fundraisers. This organization has truly lost it's way...
