Went to see the Pink Floyd Lazer Light show and it was really good. If you've been to Tucson, it's about the same size as the Rialto if not a smidge smaller. There's, as far as I saw, a good amount of well placed handicap spots where your view isn't blocked by other people's heads. They offer snacks and drinks there for like $2 which was nice. The lobby was easy to navigate and the staff was helpful. The P.A. system also worked really nicely and wasn't too loud. I've included some video of the Lazer light show just to show how dark it gets + how the stage looks. I was about four rows back from the stage on the left hand side, to give you a mental image of what the theater looks like.

Apparently this theater has wonderful acoustics, though we did not make a show there. We went for the tour, which was interesting, but definitely less well paced from sitting vs walking narrative experience. It focused slightly more on the theatrical history rather than the architectural design and was not indulgent to fancies from ghost hunters. The theater itself is a marvel of southwestern decor, with glowing red eyes in the cow skulls surrounding the stage and strong and colorful motifs paying homage to natives. However, this also made it feel a bit dated, belonging to a far off time period - like a 1950s tiki bar - definitely holding on to shtick more than substance.

Nicest venue I know of in Albuquerque. I wish more/most people performed here. Not sure if they have a curfew but shows end as early as 930 or 1030 depending on who you see. I've been here many times, always clean, staff is friendly, seats are great and it's never been stuffy in there which is a plus. I've never purchased from concessions but their restroom was clean the one time I used it. This is a beautiful theater full of history and I look forward to events when they are at this particular place. Not overpriced either--$50 and under for anyone I've seen here which is fantastic. Long live the KIMO!

FIX THE AC BEFORE OFFERING A SHOW THAT WILL BE SOLD OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER! Are you serious??? We could barely breathe! No airflow, fans, ac, nothing. We went last night to see the beautiful The Buena Vista Social Club. We were so excited as not many bands or singers even come to Albuquerque in the first place. I don’t think we have ever had such a hard time trying to enjoy something since it was unbearably hot, it was probably about 90 degrees inside, in a sold out show. The singers kept taking breaks and wiping themselves with little towels. The air conditioning situation was extremely disappointing and we were completely dissatisfied, just as everyone else around us. I felt lightheaded more than once (I’m in early stage of pregnancy so this was difficult for me) Everyone was trying to push through as the band was rather amazing, but so many people left because it was so hot. A lady that was in her late 80s needed to leave, as she could barely breathe. My dad, who is in his 60s, couldn’t stop sweating and he was just sitting, trying to enjoy the music. By the time the band was done, our row was almost empty. We never felt any kind of air conditioning. The couple next to me came all the way from Santa Fe and they were debating if staying was worth it BEFORE the concert started since it was already so hot. Some problem solving skills would've been appreciated. I think nobody cared if they put at least a fan, even if it was just plugged to the wall. Anything would’ve been better than no air, during summertime, with hundreds of people in one location with no airflow. Unless it is during winter time, I honestly wouldn’t come back, and neither would my family and friends. I don’t think anyone around us would go back either. So sad as this theater is...

The genius behind the KiMo was Oreste Bachechi, a motivated entrepreneur from humble origins. Oreste Bachechi came to the United States in 1885 and set up a business in a tent near the railroad tracks in Albuquerque. Bachechi's fortunes expanded with the city's growth; he became a liquor dealer and proprietor of a grocery store while his wife Maria ran a dry goods store in the Elms Hotel. By 1919, the Bachechi Amusement Association operated the Pastime Theatre with Joe Barnett. In 1925, Oreste Bachechi decided to achieve "an ambition, a dream that has been long in realization," by building his own theater, one that would stand out among the Greek temples and Chinese pavilions of contemporary movie mania

Bachechi envisioned a unique, Southwestern style theater, and hired Carl Boller of the Boller Brothers to design it. The Bollers had designed a Wild West-Rococo-style theater in San Antonio and a Spanish cathedral cum Greco-Babylonian interior in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Pueblo Influence

Carl Boller traveled throughout New Mexico, visiting the pueblos of Acoma and Isleta, and the Navajo Nation. After months of research, Carl Boller submitted a watercolor rendering that pleased Oreste Bachechi. The interior was to include plaster ceiling beams textured to look like logs and painted with dance and hunt scenes, air vents disguised as Navajo rugs, chandeliers shaped like war drums and Native American funeral canoes, wrought iron birds descending the stairs and rows of garlanded buffalo skulls with eerie, glowing amber eyes. None of the designs were chosen at random. Each of the myriad images of rain clouds, birds and swastikas had historical significance. The Navajo swastika is a symbol for life, freedom...

This One of Albuquerque, New Mexico Pride And Joys the old Kimo Theater. Which they have worked very hard to keep it in Excellent Condition and And was using this Building 20 Years ago when I was here. I can't find My pictures I took of this Building most likely because someone doesn't like my Comments about them in this Post? However they are not going to get any better And Yes I Fear for my Life but 🙏 WHO can you tell When No One in Albuquerque, New Mexico gives a Hoot and No One in America Gives A Damn now that they Have Stolen More Millions of Dollars then they ever want to be Mentioned and this is WHY they have made me there pet N. Toy 🪀🪀 and I Am sitting here as a Homeless Fool in a Prison not fit for a Homeless Dog to Stay in !

However Give Me, WARNER JUNIOR COLEMAN Bound And Blessed 10 Men and Women And My Money to Work with and I Would turn this Prison Around where it's a Pride And the Community to be Here at Westside Prison Shatter . For One Month and You can have it back As a reference to What a Community and A Caring Person can do to Give you a place to Present 💝🎁 to any GROUP of people as a Show Case of What you can do if you had the Heart and the Desire!

However then the toughest Job Comes into Play getting the Homeless people to Appreciate what has happened here just for them! Because if I ever seen it in this Shape again and Caused by the people who Run the place and those who stay here 🤬😭🤬 I would Surely take it away and use it for another project? This is not being heartless but having...
