Terrible Customer Service: I usually do not take the time to write a negative review, but this particular experience was the worst i have had in a long time. I enjoy Sister Bar as a staple in downtown ABQ and is a good place to visit, but this particular review is directed at a bartender named Mike. Me and a group of five of my friends rolled in to get our night started and as usual sit at the bar. Mike proceeds to take my friends drink and food orders as he goes down the line he get to me or I assumed he was ready to take my order. As I proceed to tell him my drink order, he cuts me off and says he will get my order when he I finished getting my friends order (who are all are attractive females). Once he finishes my friends orders he then moves on to other patrons and didnt take my order. When I approached him to get my order placed he said "I will be right with you, just wait your turn". At this point I was pretty frustrated. So i just went back to my friends and continued our night. Food begins to arrive and still havent been able to order my simple drink. It wasnt till he asked my friends if they will be the same check or separate checks and I chimed in told him that itll be on the same check and I'll be paying for it, did I get his attention and finally get my drink order. Simple Kettle Tonic with lime. He still made the drink incorrectly and placed lemons in it. I was pretty done at this point. I made sure all my friends had everything they wanted and ordered and asked for the check. Mike proceeded to give me a check with only a total on it, no items shown. He walked away before i had a chance to ask for an itemized check and had to ask the other bartender for it. Once received, of course it was incorrect with extra drinks added to it. I pointed it out and it was corrected. I think it goes without saying that i didnt leave a tip only a comment to the affect of his service. We took our food and drinks and moved to the video games. The only other thing that occurred was one of my friends food was taken before it was finished and had to approach the bar again and ask them why it was taken and if we can get it replaced... Needless to say it wasnt replaced because there was only one taco left on it and they cant replace a mostly eaten plate. When i asked Mike to speak to a manager he pointed to the other bartender. I asked what his name was to which replied "Mike" I asked him his name is Mike aswell? and he said yes. So when i signaled for him I asked him if he was the manager and he said he was then i asked his name and it wasnt Mike. I look back at him and all he Did was just stare at me like i was wrong and he did nothing wrong. After explaining to the "Manager" what has happen throughout the night nothing was resolved and we were asked to leave for causing so many problems. So I just left with my friends and i apologized if we caused any issues. Later my friend had discover that she left her debit card at the bar so we had to go back. I walked her over and we were stopped at the door and was told we were not allowed in. My friend explained that she left her debit card and needed to get it. She was allowed in but I was told I had to wait outside till she came back. It was quick but I saw her with a receipt and asked what did she get? She said nothing and that she had to pay for her food and drinks still. I was so upset that they still took advantage of my friend and charged for items I already paid for and told her that i didnt tip and she needed to. Worst...
Read moreServer with the backwards hat, didn’t have a name tag, was so very rude. There was a shift change during our time there and the nice lady closed us out and had all of our drinks remembered and split the check with no hesitation. Then our new waiter arrives and gets the table more rounds and after about 25 minutes of waiting for our check after telling him we were ready for it VERY politely , we remind him again, there is a huge line of people waiting to get in keep in mind so you’d think he’d want to clear that table , but he was catering so hard to any group of women that came in and considering our whole group was men except me he didn’t seem to care and his attention was else where (YOURE at work dude what are you doing). So he finally brings the check after 35 minutes of waiting for it with no service , and it’s not spilt, this is a table of 7 nobody is covering this whole check we are broke college students, so we politely remind him we asked him to split the check, he then makes US figure out how the check was supposed to be split so he can go talk to the table he is obsessed with, he walks away shaking his head all mad no while we proceed to try and figure out the check. He then starts avoiding our table so we yell out for him , ignores us again and goes right back to the other table, so I went to the front and told him that these are the things I’m covering, I won’t be covering the whole table can you split this so we can go (we literally should have just left after waiting on HIM for so long) so he’s like “ do you have a card for this?!” I’m like I have a card once you split the check like we asked you respectfully the first 2 times. He storms off to the back and has his co worker cash us out, who starts treating us with no respect as well. Then we leave the bar and he starts throwing his hands up at my boyfriend like he wants to fight.... over YOU not doing your job? Nobody should be working in food service if this is how they react to costumers asking so nicely for the check split. Anger management? Are you okay bro? This is no way to act at your job, also not to mention HE JUST CLOCKED IN, like take your meds if you’re going to get that mad about doing the things you’re paid for. We always tip VERY well every-time we come here an never have issues but this guy needs to be put in check because that was so un called for. Will not be returning , will be finding a new place to drink where the servers treat people with respect and don’t get hot headed , I hope he is fired. I work in food service and this WOULD NOT be accepted in the work place. Trying to fight? On the clock? I’m...
Read morePinball, live music, and a sizeable tap rail make this a music venue you and all your friends can enjoy together, with something for everyone. Late-night food service and signature craft cocktails round everything out, and there's even a small patio out front, where you can watch the scene on Central (always entertaining). On a recent Friday night we found ourselves on the prowl down Central, and we knew Sister had what we were looking for - cocktails. I usually go for a pint of something bubbly, and I almost gave in to that urge and get a goblet of Founder's KBS, a delicious and heavy breakfast stout from Michigan, but I ordered a Cisco Kid, sucking the tropical juices down happily as we sat out front. Don't forget to bring cash when you venture downtown, though, because the pinball machines don't take cards. Go crazy and get yourself $20 worth of quarters, and feel like a king as you walk around for the rest of the night, jingle-jangling with each step. There are more than a dozen different machines, and they rotate to feature new games, like the John Wick tables they recently added. The whole place was recently remodeled, with a wall now separating the music and bar area, so you can enjoy Sister without having to pay cover for the band. They pipe the music into the bar area, but if you want to see the band, it'll cost ya. You and about a hundred other folks can squeeze into that area, making for a cozy experience, which suits the small and mid-sized bands that play here just fine. Overall, the service has been great, with the usual complaint that on busy nights, you might be waiting a minute to get service. There's no clear service point at the bar, so everyone just gets in there wherever they can. The food is served through a window at the back of the room, so it's basically self-service there, but the fact that they serve pretty late makes up for that. It sort of feels like a food truck, just inside. Top marks for Sister, with a deep selection of beers and cocktails, music and pinball, it's a modern venue working to keep...
