This is a pretty cool place to chill, especially in the afternoon. I visited the plaza at the end of our road trip. Stopped in ABQ to take our homemade version of a Braking Bad tour in the area and finished here since it was right across the street from our hotel (Hyatt Regency). We were able to take some pictures and (sort of) recreate the shot that was filmed in the show. Since ABQ downtown is pretty quiet, there weren't a whole lot of people around, so we were able to (sort of) create one of the shots in the show. There were quite a few homeless (some of which seemed to be on drugs) which wasn't very inviting. Mind you, we reached this location in the early evening and the sun was setting. I'll definitely be back in the ABQ area to do another Braking Bad homemade tour and this site will still be on my list!

Beautiful evening in Civic Plaza celebrating the beginning of the Christmas season. Lighting of the Christmas Tree. Amazing vendors with great and homemade products. Bisochtos cookies, hot cocoa, coffee, and more yummy goodies. Sampling of fine chocolates and popcorn. Homemade custom jewelry, specialized and homemade lanyards, homemade blankets, winter hats, mittens, and so much more. My family and I had a beautiful evening making memories. We look forward to more Christmas family activities the city has to offer this holiday season.🎄🎄

Specifically reviewing the playground on Civic Plaza. Fun park for many age levels in Downtown Albuquerque. Soft padded ground and plenty of shade. Lots of climbing equipment, some baby swings, a tire swing, and slides. The only downsides are the lack of free parking (remember to bring change for the meter!) and the large contingent of people hanging out in the general area that seem inebriated and ask for money.

My husband and I really enjoyed going to Civic Park especially after the water park was built this year of 2018. It's a fun day event for hanging out with friends, family, to see or join events or just let the family cool off. The only bad thing about the park are the constant having to keep your stuff near you at all times as theft becomes an issue. Just for that, solution solved and we still had a great time at Civic Park. Picnic tables are available as are the umbrella's for shade, basketball court for those who want to play, of course the water park for people who want to cool off, ping pong tables which paddle with balls are obtained at the Civic Center, weekend events...

An attractive venue marred by a city's inability to make simple fixes.

For a place that holds most large public events, including CityFest, under the hellish summer sun, this place is woefully inadequate for shade and cleanliness. Add to that a resident population of the homeless and cockroaches that come out after the summer sun has set, and you have all of the ingredients for embarrassing yourself in front of your out-of-town guests. Fixing this place is necessary and would cheap and easy.

Otherwise, this is as good a place as any for cooped-up city workers to enjoy a...
