I am revising my entire review because I think its worth noting that I have a different experience almost every time I enjoy this theatre.
I will say that I have never had a bad time here. I've been coming here since the late '90s when it first opened up. It is a nice theatre.
There are certain areas that look new, cleaner, and refurbished and other areas that look outdated and from the original design from the '90s. It's very jarring that some parts are updated while others are stuck in that era.
I will say that it looks like lately they are making more of a push to make the entire theatre look more uniform.
One area that could definitely use major overhauling is the bathrooms on all lower levels. They are small and just look dingy (even when they are clean). The bathrooms are the weakest area and like most of this aging mall; meaning there is always something Out of Order 90% of the time.
On the positive notes: the concessions are courteous even when busy (and they are ALWAYS busy). The quality of concessions is good and you standard movie theatre up-pricing (which I expect so I'm not put off by it).
The addition of wider isles and new reclining seats with trays is a nice addition, making this one of the go-to theaters for me and my family.
The presentation of the films is always enjoyable. The screens are clean, the auditoriums are clean, and the sound and brightness is good.
This is more of a family-friendly theater because its in a mall so I've never experienced any shenanigans with other customers (unlike Century Rio 24; you never know what you'll get).
So I recommend, but I only ask that they please update their lobby and lower-level bathroom area. That's enough for me to only give 4/5 stars because a bathroom should be functional and nominally clean at all times (especially with as much Staff as...
Read moreI have been to the Cottonwood Mall theatre several times before, and this was the first time I ever went to see a movie that had required us to sit in assigned seats. As we got our tickets at the front entrance, Me and 2 others were given the option of having to choose from only 6 available seats in the theater. The only 3 together we're seated in the very back top of the theater, I assumed the theater was completely full, at a 1pm showing Monday. so we chose the seats and went into the movie. The theater was completely empty and only 4 people were sitting in seats, also at the top back of the theater. After waiting through the previews I decided nobody was sitting at the front and it made absolutely NO sense WHY we HAD to sit at the very back!! This is a movie theater not an airplane!! We paid for our entertainment they shouldn't have pointless assigned seats for people who ARENT EVEN OCCUPYING THE THEATER! After about 45 minutes into the film a group of 5 people came into the movie and said they were assigned seats IN THE FRONT WHERE WE WERE SITTING! So we gave up the seats we were in which WERE NEVER SHOWN AS AVAILABLE when we picked up our tickets! This was the stupidest most frustrating mistake that this theater has made, it is pointless and dumb to have assigned seating for a movie theater especially when there are numerous open seats that NOBODY is sitting in! I will never return to that movie theater again unless they fix this problem and make seats readily available LIKE THEY SHOULD BE! If I could rate a 0 start rating I would have,...
Read moream the mother of a profoundly disabled young lady by the name of Nicole.
Nicole, her Caregiver and her 11-year-old brother were asked to leave the movies specifically a child’s movie by the name of inside out today during the 1:30 PM showing.
Not only is the movie theater, empty, and movie theaters are suffering all across our nation, but the treatment to people with disabilities is appalling.
Nicole was expressing her enjoyment For the movie theater, which she visits often when the manager who refused to come out and speak with me, engage another worker to come into the movie theater and asked Nicole to leave. The caregiver who is only 18 ask them why we should leave the movie and she said that someone was complaining that Nicole was making too much noise. Nicole’s noise was simply her laughter and her expression of joy as a result of the movie.
The caregiver explained that Nicole is simply laughing and expressing happiness. Despite the extensive explanation and the very young caregivers attempt to advocate for her client, the manager asked her and the two minors to leave the movie theater.
We are very sad time. We demand equity kindness, and compassion for others that the protected classes seem to be exempt, particularly those who cannot advocate for themselves.
You would think that a dying industry would be more compassionate and want to cater to some of the few patrons that come to enjoy and pay the high premium, especially for the substandard service provided at the regal cinema of the Cottonwood Mall...
