Went to Taphouse tonight. Extremely disappointing... We like to go for the drinks for girls nights. Our waitress was not attentive at all, VERY slow to do things, missed a lot of stuff, had to repeat, we saw her standing and chatting with other workers while waiting on food that's easy grab, it was busy at the restaurant but not overloaded. My wrap came to the table and the tortilla was a nasty, soggy mess, couldn't even pick it up without everything falling out, was lukewarm at best and my "sauteed" vegetables were maybe grill kissed because they were extremely crunchy not very sauteed. I ate the little bit of meat that there actually was and that's about it. The lettuce was soggy so assume that it was hot at some point. When came time for checks, she didn't ask me if I needed change and just kept the change and handed others at the table their tickets to sign. I have waitressed in restaurants in Amarillo and Dallas over the years, so I tend to tip more than usual because I've been there. It's your livelihood. If they give good service, they deserve a big tip. Period. But none of us felt she deserved a big tip, because for us, it wasnt very good service at all and tips are earned. I get everyone has bad days but as a waitress, that unfortunately can/will effect your tables. Because of her keeping my change, one of the girls at the table didn't tip on her ticket because what she kept was about what we were thinking of tipping together anyway. (Mind you, she still ended up with a larger tip than deserved when all was said and done, because we didnt discuss exactly what we tipped till finished, but still. She has a decent tip so this next part shouldn't have happened period.) When the girl came to get the last signed ticket, she asked TWICE if my friend had an issue with service. Once while her hand was still on the table and she looked at the ticket and was looking at her while asking and another as she was half way walking away. The first she respondes, uh ok... the second was when she half way walked away and then just stood there for a bit and stared at our table. đ¤ You dont just have a disgruntled look at a customer when you're picking up a ticket and ask if there was an issue. Especially twice. That's a little confrontational. Could we have told her everything, yes, maybe we should have. But most waitresses, again I've been there, don't typically take criticism from tables well. It just turns into a worse night and unnecessary blow up. Plus Saturday night, we didn't want to bother a manager either, they have enough craziness going on. Either way... Just felt she needed to be trained a little more on table/waitressing etiquette. Ask people if they want change, ALWAYS, or just automatically give it back and wait for your tip. Or just because your ticket didn't read what you wanted/expected it to or you were under the assumption that you would be tipped by every single person at the table, doesn't mean you should be confrontational. I've been many times in group settings where one person will tip with card and others pay in cash to the one who paid with a card. đ¤ˇââď¸ do I think every table should tip, yeeess! Even if you get a dollar from the table, you're gonna have yucky people that tip none but tips are based on HOW you served someone. At least your tips SHOULD reflect the type of server you are and howyou cared for them. Not just "I expect to get 'xyz' amount of tips from each person/table every time I work." You have to EARN your tips. That's why they're tips. đ¤ˇââď¸ We were just highly disappointed with their service tonight. Good drinks, we like going for drinks BUT food only so so and service was horrible. Extremely...
Read moreThis place is absolutely too expensive for the kind of food they serve. Nothing is made in house. It's all bagged, frozen, and deep fried. The only way these guys are getting good reviews is because they sell cheap booze and boozey people can't be counted on to review food and an establishment with any accuracy.
On this trip we had a pulled pork grilled cheese. For $11 dollars we got soaked in grease soggy toast smushed around a mound of defrosted bagged pulled pork. It even smelled like it was heated up I whatever plastic container it originally came in. It was so greasy the fries that were absolutely crispy to begin with were completely soggy on the bottom from the run off of the sandwich.
The second entree was basically a deconstructed fajita called smothered steak. For $18 (one of the most expensive entrees on the menu) you get Skirt steak piled with onions, peppers and smothered in cheese. The grease from this was insurmountable and actually formed a puddle underneath my fries on the opposite side of the plate. This also ruined my fries by making any of them on the bottom soggy and soaked in grease. The portion size of beef and fixings was extremely disappointing for the price as well. (Joe Taco has this same dish for half the price at double the portion..gtfo of here Taphouse) Half of the beef was still raw thanks to it being folded up while it was cooking. Not pink but raw. All the slices of beef were still connected because the membrane was still attached to all the meat. The whole meal was sloppy and disgusting.
The only good thing about our visit was our waitress. She was nice and attentive. She even tried to get our ticket discounted when she realized we didnt eat much of our food. Unfortunately the manager didnt feel it necessary. Not a big deal. We wouldnt have been back anyway based on the food alone.
Bottom line you can get this same basic food at the competition for HALF THE PRICE. (Probably half the grease too) This place really misses the mark and they offer nothing that sets them apart from any of their cookie cutter competition except their super expensive pricing. Save your money and the belly ache from all the grease, Chili's...
Read moreThe entire experience was sub-par at best, and please donât let the âfood p@&nâ on their website fool you. As bars go âtap houseâ has a pleasant theme thatâs gone terribly wrong, there are wall to wall TVâs and yet âchiveâ seems to be the most interesting thing on, and forget about having a conversation with anyone, not from the noise but from the sensory overload of constant flashing images. The food was insultingly overpriced for what you get, instant potatoes and literal Walmart brand onion rings are unacceptable for a cheap diner let alone a near $20.00 plate. And the overall feel of the menu (from a glance about) is that there was little to nothing handmade.
Letâs face it, overpriced and underwhelming bar food is almost an American tradition but what one should never accept is a bar that short changes and overcharges their pints, I paid $6.00 for a pint and was served an improperly poured 2/3rd pint of Guinness with no head that already settled and died, at least it was coldâŚish.
Oh, and donât sit by the window after 5:00pm, youâll roast.
Ps. The waitress was way overworked so donât expect any real quality attention if your tab doesnât...
