I have spent my years traveling the country and have spent so many hours in different card shops. These folks are doing a lot of things right. They have a friendly staff that is quick to assist. They have a lot of product. They have plenty of play space. They have always accommodated as many players as possible with whatever games of their choosing.
I would change a few things, if possible. I would add a few electrical outlets throughout the play area. This allows people to charge phones, tablets, etc. as games have evolved to include the use of such devices.
Offer gratuitous WiFi as an amenity for the customers. The play area is a Faraday cage and blocks most phone service for people. Some people need their phones, etc. for their games, and you never know if someone is expecting an important call. It's really not that big of a deal to share the store's WiFi, and it would be greatly appreciated by customers in the play area. It's quite odd that there is not a guest ID, as many businesses offer this amenity free of charge.
Greater snack/drink selection would be great. There aren't many quick and easy food options within a block or two. If people have to leave to eat, they are not likely to come back. That is potential loss in sales, plus you have more revenue from snacks.
If these items were fixed, I would really give 5 stars. Thanks for the things that...
Read moreI love going to Empire Games! My boyfriend and I often make a trip to Anderson (an hour away) just to visit Empire and browse. More often than not, we end up going home with a pile of loot. Every now and then, there has been a, I'll say, "persistent" salesperson in store, only one time of which was an unpleasant experience, but all other times, it has been really good. Sometimes, we'll strike up a conversation with the staff or some of the other shoppers and appreciate our shared interests, and even learn about new potential gaming opportunities. Empire Games has also been making a lot of updates to their building, their gaming space, and their shopping model. I personally especially appreciate the prices being labeled on all of the products now. It prevents those awkward moments when I'd be really interested in buying a thing and going to the counter only to discover that my bank account didn't support the purchase at the time. One day, I may use their gaming space, but for now, I am very happy just perusing their wares. I look forward to seeing Empire Games continue to...
Read moreOn Oct. 5, 2025- I placed an order for the book in the pic "Everything Dead & Dying." The order # was SFY#121073. When I received the book (Oct. 9), it was packaged between two pieces of cardboard that was the exact size of the book and the book did not have a comic book bag or protector (being a comic shop, you would think they would ship a book with better form of protection and even in a Gemini comic shipper). When I opened the package, the book was bent up on the corners where it shifted around in the packaging and no comic book bag protection. I immediately emailed the store and have not received a response. I guess the only way I am going to get a response is posting this review. I would like to have a refund or a new book sent to me. If this does not occur I will be disputing the charge with my bank for...
