Power Center for the Performing Arts: Impressive Venue, Incredible Talent!
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of seeing "Titanic: The Musical" at the Power Center, and we were thoroughly impressed! We were seated in the back row of the lower bowl, and the view was still fantastic. It really speaks to the thoughtful design of this theater that even from the back, you feel connected to the performance.
For a venue that holds so many people, it seems like every seat truly offers a great vantage point. We were completely captivated by the production and the immense talent on display, especially the performers from the University of Michigan musical theater program. Their caliber is truly exceptional!
We will absolutely be returning to the Power Center for the Performing Arts to experience more of the high-quality performances they host. It's a wonderful space to enjoy...
Read moreThe Power Center is an excellent mid-sized venue for all types of theatrical performances. We have had the season subscription for several years and enjoy the productions very much. Prices are quite reasonable and you get to see some of the finest up-and-coming talent before they make their marks on Broadway, Hollywood, and around the world. Talent and production quality is top notch. Hard to think that there's a bad seat in the house. If you're within an hour of Ann Arbor, it's a great opportunity to take in great theater / musical / opera / dance events at bargain prices. (Parking is easy too, right next door at the Fletcher street garage.) Just saw "Cunning Little Vixen"; interesting story, but the costumes and staging were awesome! UM SMTD continues to hit it out...

I have performed there numerous times and found the stage quite expansive and backstage facilities and dressing rooms adequate. My consistent complaint (both as an audience patron and an actor) is the rude, obstinate, mean, and nasty attitude of of the Power Center's box office and ushering staff. Not the best first impression for your "guests"!
U of M, you can do better! Although you are the largest venue, you are not the only...
