The setting of this park is incredible! Views galore! The old mansion has a lot of helpful information about the family and the local area. The house itself is really interesting and I enjoyed seeing the upstairs bathroom with a marble shower. Be sure to visit the old glass bottle display in the kitchen; there are lots of interesting examples of medicine, bottles, and other early glassware. The upstairs is dedicated to those folks who really are interested in mining history and technology. Geology buffs are sure to like the displays and the mineral samples. The mock assayers office was really interesting also. I’ve heard that term before and now I know what it’s all about. The cost of seven dollars per adult is more than reasonable for all you can learn and see at this park. Be sure to leave your parts at home because they are not allowed at the park.

I wanted to add my own experience.. my family and I went around Jan 1 2023. I remember walking up to the front doors to go into the museum by the gift shop and I saw through the window what I thought was a display of a black Victorian dress. I could see it down to the fabric. It was a long sleeved dress with kinda a black lace on top of the black dress. I thought that was cool to have in the museum until I walked in and looked around and saw no actual display of the dress. As I walked around the museum I tried to find just maybe a picture of the dress but couldn’t. Certain points of the museum I did kinda feel like I was being “watched” or I had a heavy feeling at certain points. Other than that it was an amazing experience and a lot of cool displays of artifacts.

The park has a visitor center, a museum, and an excellent panoramic view of the valley below. The museum tells the story of the copper mining industry in the area and how industrialists will exploit a community and its people to further societies development, then abandon it when the land is no longer useful. It is story of one man who made millions and how early 20th century mining practices both helped and hurt communities. It is the story of American enterprise and successes. This community essentially built America. It would be worth your time to see a story of its cost and benefits.
