If you value your time and don't desperately need cash, DO NOT sell here! They pay out about 15%; other local kid's resale stores pay out 35% and give in-store credit of 40%. K2K boasts that they'll give you an additional 20% if you choose in-store credit instead of cash, but what they really mean is 20% of your already low 15%, so we're talking another 3% or 18% total. That's not even half of what you'd get from other places!
You may be asking yourself why I'd ever sell here if I'm this frustrated? The answer is because it was my first time and I didn't do my due diligence (even though I did try). Their website is vague and doesn't specify a payout amount - clue #1. I called twice and both times the ladies who answered didn't know and wouldn't even ask - clue #2.
I have sold my kids clothes at other places, and they are really selective in what they want, taking very little. I was SO excited when K2K went through my first tub and literally took every single item except for four shirts. I felt like I hit the jackpot. I was there at the right time - right when they were changing out seasons - and I was ecstatic when they took all of my daughter's winter and fashion boots, gloves, coats, along with most of her dresses, shirts and other clothes. Nearly everything was name brand (OshKosh, Baby Gap, Gymboree...). The whole process took two hours and they gave a few things back (the sorter goes through things first and then the appraiser takes a second look and assigns the value), but overall they took 3.5 out of my 4.5 large tubs of clothes and shoes. And then she (a lady that I've seen working there nearly every time I've been in the store over the past 5 years) calls my name and tells me that it's... $90 cash, but I could "take in-store credit for another 20% and basically double the amount". Being in complete shock, I look at her and ask (because I can't even do simple math in my head at this point), how much would that be? $108. I was speechless and didn't even know what to do. I said that I'd take the in-store credit, paid for the items I'd picked out and left.
Flash forward 5 minutes... I feel so taken advantage of, so used. I finally come to my senses, do the math and realize that there must have been a mistake. I called immediately and asked for the appraiser (of course she has left for the evening), so the manager comes on. I ask about the extra 20% and how doubling my payout for in-store credit should have been $180, not $108. She sets me straight. I ask that she lets her employees know, so they aren't misleading other sellers. She does offer for me to come back and collect my items. In hindsight I should have done that, but I felt guilty (Why? You ask. I DON'T KNOW! lol). Perhaps if I weren't already running late and would have turned around to pick up my items, I could chalk it up to a big fat waste of everybody's time, but instead, I couldn't sleep for 3 days! I was so angry and not just at them, but at myself for letting it happen. This horrible experience has been weighing heavily on me; thus, the review to let others considering selling here for the first time know the facts before making a decision. I read a few reviews that said that they don't pay out well, and I took that as their prices are low, so they don't pay as much as you might get from a higher end shop. Not the case at all! If my favorite store was buying at that time and took everything that this place did, I would have easily gotten $360 in-store credit (their selling prices are about 1.5x that of K2K). Or I could have gotten $180+ in tax write-offs next year. I'm angry!
I want K2K to know that 15%, or anything under 30% for that matter, is UNACCEPTABLE. I hope that I can save people their time and effort. Donate the items to a non-profit and get a 30% tax write off instead! It's not immediate cash in hand, but considering everything, it's the absolute best...
Read moreWell let's start by me not going in for quite some time now. Since both my girls are much older now. I now help my brother out with his younger children. Last night we received good amount of snow. His children did not have the appropriate snow attire to walk to school in such cold weather. So, I thought I would take some of my youngest daughter new and used item into sale. I first came in to ask, if they were still buying for day. Did not catch any names because no one was wearing name tags nor uniforms to tell that they where actual employees. Anyway, she said one bin limit. So, there was two adults from separate house holds. We did not have bins but two small boxes & one reusable bag with shoes. I had stuff in trunk that I was donating to another family in need in my truck too. The same lady that I first spoke to came outside. She says, let see what your bringing in first. I showed her a Tinker Bell theymed box with a toddler bedding set, plush, Snuggle robe blanket, sleeping bag, a plush pillow activity book with reusable marker set thing and matching activity rug. All freshly laundered. She then says, we don't take used bedding. So, I was like, nothing in this box, No. Okay, how about this box and bag of shoes. Yes, we can take a look at it, but not none of those other baby accessories in there. I was like, I didn't say or ask about selling anything else. So, I my head, I was like, Rude. Thinking that comment about the bedding being,"Uesd." Isn't the majority of items your company sales, are used. A simple, we don't take bedding would been just fine. So, remember we are making two different sales because one bin policy for that day. While we are they waiting, looking through their inventory. Trying to buy some snow boots and pants in exchange for what we tried to bring in. We waited for ever, just when we're ready to just say forget it. They said it was done. Talk about low balling. They did not even want me to see items that they were purchasing from me. They already had them priced, tagged and written on before I even accepted there deal. Like, who does that. Mean while, while our exchange is going on, there is another pissed off costumer right next us. Who was going off on who I believe was the manager or shift leader.I guess they switched the amount of her payout. Her excuse was it could be up to this amount given. Just the attitudes of the employees. The over pricing of what they they Name Brand items. The overall appearance and quality of items was just not what it used to be, from what I could remember. We will definitely, NOT be back to that store. It's sad, we couldn't afford to shop there. Luckily, for us Wheat Ridge has a new ARC down the street. That is more affordable. With a much more polite staff, cleaned and orginized store. Along with quality items.# Do...
Read moreIve been in here 3 time now and called once. I called once to see if they would take my austlen stroller no we're full. Then I went in there about 3 months back oh we don't get double strollers in and if do they go right back out. So then Sunday I went in and tried to sell my current double stroller the lady looked Me up and down and said no we don't sell on Sundays . It almost felt like I was being profiled but i was like nah no way. Kids were running all over and it made it hard to really look at things. I checked the website and it checked out not selling. So today I thought I would go in and try again. This time my mother went in and she was accosted by a little boy with a bike not once but twice and it just was like there needs to be less stuff and more of a place for kids to do that to run around and play. The toys are also kinda daunting....you take one look at it and it leaves you either exhausted or it messes with your organization skills. again the lady taking items looked hard at Me was like no we're full go to good buy gear. Again it looked like Class profiling as in I looked to be a white upper middle class lady and they didn't want my "snobby" brand stroller. What little I know of the area.. there is a wic office close by community table is right down the street there is a free health clinic just blocks away or there was. And revive church with a ton of community outreach is on 80th and Wadsworth. Headstarts on the other side of Wadsworth too. Knowing that there's all these low income services...my guess is their clientele can only afford Graco or the low end stuff. They had a couple burley trailers but both looked to be really outdated too. So if I gave them the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to them not being able to sell my stroller because of it brand and how much it is. They STILL need to be transparent and say you know what it's a great stroller but our clientele can't afford strollers like yours we're just not going to be able to sell it instead of profiling me. Other places and people have also said they low ball bad and there is alot of conflicting information and run around like one employee saying they can't keep doubles in stock and yet the seller won't take a...
