Purchased a lemon, and one year later, they still have not returned it or fixed it... January 14, 2016 I purchased a MacBook Pro from Like New PCs. I originally took my 13 inch Macbook Pro in because it just stopped charging and would eventually not turn on. I was told by an associate that I needed a new motherboard because liquid was supposedly spilled on the laptop. Instead of fixing it they recommended purchasing a laptop from them because it would come with a warranty and was a larger screen. I ended up purchasing it from the store.
Upon taking the computer home I quickly learned that aside from a great deal of my data not being transferred over, as they promised, the computer would freeze and shut off, would not hold a charge, the touchpad would get stuck down and when I moved the cursor it would highlight the page(s); it would eventually become depressed however it was frequent enough to not be able to use properly.
In addition to all these issues, the backlighting on the keyboard was not working as well. The purchase included a three month warranty so I immediately called Like New PCs and they were happy to fix the issue. I took the computer back to the store and they kept it for over a month the first time. I picked up the computer in March and when I attempted using the computer nothing was fixed. I returned the computer again telling Tim, the manager, the issues and he said he would resolve it. They had it for almost 2 months and after picking it up again it still was not functioning. I returned it for a third time in June and they returned it end of July, however it was still having the same issues. I finally returned it again in September and they said the battery they put in previously was "bad".
It is now January 5, 2017, and I still have not received the computer back. Tim said they "damaged" the motherboard when fixing the backlighting and now needed a new motherboard. They ordered one in October and it was delivered on Christmas Eve, however it was the wrong one, so they are still waiting for the supplier to send the correct...
Read moreEDIT: Took my pc to another shop today and found out Like New PCs, did infact take out and reinstal my ram in the wrong slots (they were in the correct spots before they worked on it) , installed my cpu cooler wrong (was in correctlyand how i wanted it beforethey got it), and took out all my fans and installed them backwards and damaged them so they ALL need replaced. Like New PCs wasn't even supposed to touch any of that, just diagnose a gpu issue, reinstall my old gpu which they did, and install windows 11 which they did not. They have cost me an extra $475 to get all of this fixed by another shop. DO NOT COME HERE
Friend of mine took my pc here after he installed a new cpu cooler and gpu. My pc refused to turn on after the gpu went in so he asked them to do a diagnostic to see what was wrong and also upgrade my system to windows 11. They did the diagnostic and found out that the gpu was busted and reinstalled my old one which I definitely appreciate, but they didn't install windows 11 like he asked and left my pc a total mess. They without asking, reinstalled the cpu cooler a different way because my friend had it upside-down to fit in better and hide the wires. At first I thought it was ok until I got it home and could actually look inside my case as they had my pc with the back facing me when I picked it up, they shoved all the wires in the front instead of feeding them into the back the way my friend had it so it is aestheticlly not great, moved my ram sticks without asking as they were staggered on purpose, and didn't prop up my gpu with the support I have in there so it was sagging considerably when I got it home. (I put it back in place before I took these pictures because it was sagging so much it scared me to leave it for any longer) I will say they did stay open slightly longer so I could come pick up the faulty gpu, and drop off my old one which I did appreciate. I unfortunately will be taking my pc to a different shop to fix the mess of cords that are really bothering me, install windows 11, and get a new...
Read moreThis was the most outrageous rip off. I paid almost $200 for a USED desktop about a year ago. Within a few weeks I had to bring it back because of a virus, even though they told me it came with an antivirus software. They charged me $75 to clean the virus and said it was my fault, some how and wasn't covered under their "warranty" that they promised me I would have when I first bought it. Then, a few months later it wouldn't boot up, and the fan just made a loud noise like it was going to burn up. I brought it in and once again, somehow this was not part of the "warranty" policy. They proceed to replace the fan and charge me again. Within a few months after that (June 1st, 2015 according to my credit card statement I just reviewed), it wouldn't boot up once again and I take it back and they charge me this time for a new mother board. Do you think this would be covered by the "warranty", you guessed it, NO WAY. So then, LITERALLY 2 weeks after that (June 16th) it was still not booting up and this time they said "because there had been so much lightening and thunderstorms recently, there was no way they could honor the 30 day policy on workmanship" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I just walked out of the store because I wasn't going to be ripped off anymore. I ended up spending WAY more money on this used computer than a brand new one. I still have all my credit card statements showing how many times I was in their store getting this ridiculous lemon they sold me fixed, every single time being promised that if "anything else happens" I should just bring it back to them, as I walk out their door. Long story short, these guys are completely incompetent and just rip you off. I can't emphasize enough how much you should AVOID buying ANYTHING from them, especially if they pretend it will be coming with...
