It’s a beautiful beach but you need to be careful. The Town of Asbury Park has overly strict rules in summertime when bringing your dog. Be sure to enter just at the town border with Loch Arbour Beach, one block beyond where the Asbury Park boardwalk ends through the parking lot. This entrance is not monitored for beach passes and gets less scrutiny in general. This is an ideal spot as the crowd is lighter because swimming is not allowed since theres no lifeguards but you can easily pop over the 100ft to Loch Arbour’s swimming section. Beach patrols do drive by and will ask dog owners to leave if it’s before 6pm. This is so unnecessarily frustrating but you can avoid it. Later in the afternoon closer to 6 they’re not as strict. If u come earlier in the day just keep an eye out whenever they come by and throw a towel over your pup until they pass! Worked for our small and cooperative older poodle. We did see several dog owners asked to leave so we were on alert...
Read moreAs far as I know, the dog beach allows dogs on the beach from 6pm-8pm on at least weekends when I go there in the summer months. There was construction on a new parking lot when I went Memorial Weekend 2020 but it's done now in July 2020. Great place for dogs and people. A jetty with Fisher people, dogs that are interested in fish will love it. Always be careful of hooks. Digging in sand, playing in the water and socializing with dog people is awesome. If you are there earlier, Wonder Bar Yappyhour is another great dog experience and fill in time until your allowed on the beach. Be sure to check their website for hours, rules on tags, vacc history and possible reservation needed in 2020. Just a 10-15 min walk depending on the amount of sniffs your dog takes along the way. Great shower station at the Dog Beach to wash off sand from humans/dogs near the parking lot. Love it here as...
Read moreDOGS AFTER 6PM! June 2022 DOG FRIENDLY but after 6 pm (signs)! If you go on a slow day before peak summer beach season, there are off-leash dogs on the beach before 6 pm in the dog beach area. They're starting to collect cash at the beach entrances/enforcing no dogs allowed until after 6 pm now.
Bayshore Waterfront Park (about 40 mins away) is the perfect alternative. Dog-friendly beach with no time restriction with a lot of space if you want your dogs off-leash and away from other beach goers/dogs. Go early for parking & then to Frozen & Flavors for dog-friendly ice cream after!!
Nearby Bradley Cove is a dog friendly eatery, Kim Marie’s! Dog friendly outdoor seating with dog menu & great service!
Like if this helps so I'll post more reviews & so it'll get bumped to the top so people can see this before wasting a trip there during the day...
