I want to document the terrible and unpleasant experience I had yesterday. I have been a patient here since 2022. I had an appointment for an ultrasound at 2:20. I arrived at 2 and checked in. Got brought into the room on time at 2:22, waited until 2:51 for the PA to come into my room. The first thing I noticed was a different PA from my usual PA. Lo and behold, the first thing she says to my face is “I’m not as nice as _(the other PA).” Katie Shields was the new PA that said this. Katie stated that I had way too many masses and should’ve gone to a radiologist instead. If I’m being honest, I was NOT aware of this since I’ve been coming here and the other PA has been nothing but nice and understanding and measures and takes the time to examine me. This is not something a normal person would know. Like, oh I have so many masses I should go to a radiologist instead, as if the name on the front door doesn’t say ATLANTA BREAST CARE??! I’m sorry my masses has inconvenienced you to do your job. So I straight up asked are you going to do my ultrasound then? She got an attitude and said yes I will examine the ONE mass. So I came in with an appointment needing an ultrasound on both but she only did one side and only did the one mass. I still had to pay the regular price (not cheap) to come in to only get one mass checked out. And she kept reiterating how I should go to a radiologist, she also mentioned how they don’t really track the process after two years and my time was up. If I’m being honest, this is NOT a fun place to visit nor a happy one. This whole process is very scary and new to me but I understand since Ms Katie Shields sees many patients with similar problems daily, this is not something that stresses her out and she can talk to patients with no respect, enpathy or compassion. I truly did not have a good experience with Katie or the front desk. Patients do not visit Atlanta breast care just for fun, this is a personal and scary situation but I guess it’s the norm for those working here. I did get to speak to Dr bowman and expressed my concerns and feelings and she was much more understanding and explained why a radiologist has a more trained set of eyes. Overall, I don’t recommend coming here unless absolutely needed. If you do, please request someone other than Katie as she made me feel like my health was an inconvenience to her. The whole process was rushed as she only examined one side and one mass when I had multiple. I still had to pay the regular amount to get one checked out and I left still feeling uneasy and worried...
Read moreI would like to begin by saying I attempted to contact Atlanta Breast Care twice by email prior to submitting this review. Had they answered my email and corresponded there, I would not have gone to google reviews. However they chose not to correspond with me. Anyone at the office who reads this and is in doubt may contact me to ask for screenshots showing that I sent messages on two different occasions to an email provided on Atlanta Breast Care's website. The Good: They were quick to see me upon arrival at the facility. Both front desk staff and medical staff were friendly. Bad: Did not refer elsewhere upon learning reason for visit. On two different occasions, the first being when i called in to make an appointment, and again when filling out pre-visit email, I explained the tests I was seeking when making the appointment. Despite the office being in possession of this information, they failed to contact me and advise that they did not offer these tests. Instead, they proceeded with the appointment only for the doctor to tell me I would have to be referred elsewhere for testing. Despite being a breast care center, they do not offer in house tests one would naturally associate with breast care. Despite this, i was still charged 275.00 going out the door for a 'first visit' an then a follow up bill of 42.68 to cover what my insurance wouldn't. So almost 325.00 to be told to go somewhere else when it was clearly explained before I arrived why i was coming. In my opinion they should have explained up front that they didn't offer the services i was requesting, but instead it seems they wanted to wait until I arrived so they could go ahead and charge the visit fee. I see this place has great reviews and I'm glad for the people they have helped but in my personal experience it seemed strictly like a money grab. It did seem they saw my emails, despite not responding, because in one I explained that I had only received bills by email inviting me to 'pay online' but that it asked for a 'code' which was not provided by email. A few days later, I finally got my first paper bill with a code. So again, it seems they just didn't want to discuss the situation. I've paid the bill but as it was out of pocket, it's money I feel like going in to be told 'you have to go somewhere else' should have cost a LOT...
Read moreMy mother and I have been long-time patients of Atlanta Breast Care, and I’m used to having superb service, but this morning I had the WORST experience with the front desk receptionist, Aja. I phoned the office three times to alert them that the Atlanta traffic would cause me to be late to my appointment, and nobody answered (scheduling, clinician or doctor’s office prompts). I brought it to the attention of the receptionist who checked me in, who then called Aja over to assist. She offered me an appointment over two hours later with a physician’s assistant WITH A NO SHOW/CANCELLATION FEE OF $50. I told her that was absurd, I’m not canceling and am physically here, to which she stated “you were aware of the policy because you signed.” Unfortunately, there was NO FEE OF $50 mentioned with the patient documents. Aja’s microaggressions persisted when I asked to speak to my physician. She persisted in acting like a child, and mumbled under her breath after I walked away from her. When I approached her about her behavior, she tried to gaslight me by saying she was giving the energy I was giving. A complete and utter mess, this woman! I waited to speak with my doctor, who saw me within an hour. Dr. Barber is perfection! I hope Aja gets the training she needs to represent this beautiful office. She could potentially steer patients away. If I didn’t maintain a level-head, I might’ve left completely. I will be following up with the attending physicians regarding her behavior. She needs help, poor thing. In the meantime, I got an excellent breast exam that got me out of the office within one hour. The physicians in this office don’t deserve the poor reception at...
