So first off, I'm sad I didn't review Osha before the changes because it was one of me and my friend's top 3 places, hands down.
Tonight, my friends and I came for dinner and drinks and first impression was great! The renovations look stunning. So we didn't have a reservation, but the hosts at the front were very transparent and accommodating. We ended up sitting at the sushi bar, which was great, absolutely no complaints there (and we appreciate the friendly hosts for giving us a couple options, as there were no tables that weren't reserved). Our server, although I don't remember her name, quickly greeted us and was great the whole night.
So why the 2 stars? I would give one, but the staff was extremely nice, and I'm appreciative for the great service. The downside? I am a foodie and with the renovations, they also adjusted the food and drinks and it was an extremely disappointing adjustment. Starting with the cocktails, they were all completely different and they did not keep any of the star drinks we usually love (lychee martini and basil margarita are the two specifically I can recall right now, but there was another two that were incredible). My friend ordered the new lychee cocktail and it was terrible. Lychee and papaya with Prosecco? Weirdly sweet and not good. (I do want to mention that she did express her disappointment in the drink and the waitress was accommodating and let her choose another, which I know was done by very special request, so don't go expecting this to happen) I got their SEA Margarita and it was not good either, but I just let it go. It was bitter and sour. I don't like sweet drinks, but that didn't have any flavor except overpowering bitterness and sour on the finish. I couldn't tell you what was in that cocktail at all, because there was nothing in the taste. All the way to the bottom of the glass.
So then we look at the food menu and was pleasantly surprised to see our normal go to's. So we order our usuals. They come out and we were shocked. Very noticeably were the altered portion sizes of both appetizers and entrees. They were all 1/4th of what they were before. They also were dry. Like the calamari, no noticeable sauce on the dish, and no sauce to dip either. The chicken dumplings, literally barely any sauce (and they used to come in a shallow bowl sitting in the perfect amount of a super delicious sauce. The rest of the food we had was prepared differently and again, tiny portions. What was disappointing about this was the fact that the prices didn't change at all.
It pains me to say this, but unfortunately I probably won't be back. Which is crazy! It was my go to. My spot for really great food and drinks. It's a pricey spot, was before and still is, but before, the splurge was so so so worth it. Now? Horrifyingly not.
If you've never been, I'd steer clear unless you're on someone else's tab, and even then, I'd strongly hesitate. It's now just so......
Read moreBased on the reviews, I was so excited to try Osha. However, our experience didn’t live up to the hype. I’ll start with the good:
Sushi - the sushi we had was so delicious we ordered two. I think it was called the Immersion Sunset. 10/10 recommend. Desserts - the Thai crème brûlée was so good. Not too sweet and it had the milky goodness of Thai tea. I had the coconut cake which was sweet but had a nice balance with the coconut shreds. It kind of reminded me of a tres leche cake. Parking was so easy. It’s validated, so all you do is park in the garage and let them know in the restaurant. Make sure you take a picture of your license plate if you don’t know it.
Now, for the bad: Entrees - one of my favorite Thai dishes is the beef salad. The meat is always medium-rare/medium and succulent. The meat is dusted with rice powder and just filled with flavor and spice. I don’t mind variations, but this didn’t take like that at all. The meat wasn’t cooled, it was cold and chewy. There was a huge piece of cabbage and romaine cups with it. I honestly didn’t mind the cabbage, but the dish just didn’t make sense. Also, my friend sent back her food to order something else. Now, granted, it’s possible she just doesn’t like pad Thai, but I also thought it was lack luster. They both enjoyed the drunken noodles but overall, underwhelming. The waitress didn’t seem to know a lot about the menu. This might be nitpicking, but my friend never knows what she wants so she relies on the expertise of the waitstaff. Especially at a restaurant with this price, I expected better. But it’s possible that she was new. The tables are TINY. The seats next to the bar are only meant for two people. We were a table of four so it filled up quickly. This con also bounces back to problem 2 because they weren’t checking the table enough to clear unused plates, platters, etc. away. We also had a toddler. I don’t recommend bringing younger kids (it’s also just not the vibe of the establishment).
Overall, we spent $300+ and I felt like I would’ve preferred to go to a cute Thai restaurant in Duluth or on...
Read moreOk so let's start from the beginning. The parking is pretty weird in being that you b have to walk outside of the parking garage to the side of the building to enter the restaurant. Don't do like my guy and myself and walk through the corridor to get to the outside (Peachtree street ahead and Watershed on the left) We ended up Walking around the entire front of the building, only to enter the door that we just drove past to enter the parking lot. There is directional sign pointing in the direction of Saltyard but that kinda leads you to a locked door. So my advice to just head towards the entrance of the parking garage and make a quick left and the entrance door is right there. Lol! We made reservations so we were seated right away. The valet was not open so she asked for your tag number to add validation to it. We were seated against the outside wall facing the only TV that they have. I was happy with our placement. Now ON TO THE FOOD! WE had a sweet and soft spoken waiter. I forget his name but he has dark hair and a ponytail.. Very sweet guy that provided great service. I ordered the Salmon with Quinoa and green beans. It was great but the quinoa was a little too tart for my liking. Whatever sauce they used in Quinoa was too robust for the dish, in my opinion. The Salmon was cooked beautifully. It was a nice portion juicy and tender. My guy got the pork tenderloin with collared greens and cheese grits. The pork tasted well and it was Ummmmm ok,the collards were pretty good; sweet with a little spicy kick to them and not over cooked and soggy. The grits were ok. Nothing really to write home about. Oh almost forgot, we ordered brussel sprouts as an appetizer. THEY WERE THE SHITTTTTTTT! ORDER THOSE NOW! I also got 2 deviled eggs. They were good but not good enough for $2.50 a piece though. Overall it was a great experience. Great ambiance, great food, attentive wait stuff. I liked it a lot and I...
