I have eaten here a lot; I have recommended this place to every guest I have ever had come to ATL as well. But I swear to lord I will not be coming back here again. The service I got was absolutely disgusting and the way my father was treated was horrible. Now granted, I have never had great "service" here in the sense that I have never had a friendly server, but I did not really care about that. If the restuarant is nice and food is good, I can deal with it. It has also just been my expectation with this place at this point, with the exception of the hosts; they are always sweet.
But anyway, I came in the other day and asked right off the bat if it would take long to be served. I also said that it was fine if it would be, but I just needed to know because I had a flight so I just did not have much time. I was told no, so I was like cool. I ordered my food as soon as possible and just hung out. The waitress was okay, but then she was not friendly to my dad when we didn't even say anything. We were just sitting and she said "I can't make your food any faster" to him with a weird nasty-nice attitude when we had not even called her over or inquired about it? It confused me but it is fine. But then after about 25 minutes, I asked her if we could just cancel the order because I had a flight to catch, and made clear that I was not upset or anything. I have worked in restuarants my whole life so I never get upset with wait times really, as I know it isn't the server's fault. Sometimes it isn't even the kitchen's fault; they could be overloaded with tickets, short staffed, whatever it may be. Moral of the story is I understand that and won't ever get upset over it. She then said she would go check on our food and I said okay and then after about another 5 minutes, I asked someone else if they could get her so that we could cancel our food because I was really pushing it with my flight time. This man came by and he was fine but said that they are only doing to-go's and it is his understanding that we have only been waiting 25 minutes. First off, 25 minutes for a pancake is objectively not reasonable? But Moreso, we wanted to dine in, and were told that we could. But after I explained the situation, he said it was okay to cancel and he would talk to his GM and we could leave. So we left. And then a woman came out the restuarant screaming at us and we went to talk to her and she was INCREDIBLY rude. She was like "well we made your food so", and we said well we were told we could cancel and she was like "well yea no we made your food so you need to pay for it". We had no issue paying but the attitude was very unwarranted and not appreciated. And THEN when I asked about the food, she said "you can go grab your food off the table if you want it" and then left; the woman didn't even bring us the food but brought out the credit card reader? It was despicable. I have worked in restuarants for 10 years, much more high end ones with higher costs too. If you mess up or your kitchen messes up, you take the sunken cost and don't tell patrons they can leave and then chase and yell at them. And then to bring out a credit card reader and not even their food when you do so? That is disgusting and so unprofessional honestly. Do you know how many comped meals I have given because someone else messed up? And those comped meals more often than not were still eaten by the patrons (unless something was inedible about it of course). My dad and I asked to leave and were approved to leave before the food came out, because we were not trying to be unreasonable or unfair by any means.
I do not care if you made the food; that is your problem if your service and kitchen messed up. But Moreso, at least be polite. That is my biggest issue here. If my dad and I were treated nicely at all--because I was not there making a huge fuss or being rude--then I would not be so upset. But this restuarant provided such a...
Read moreSome friends and I were going to brunch on Saturday and one of them mentioned Egg Harbor. I had absolutely no idea where it was but was definitely willing to give it a try. Of course, I checked the menu out online, first, to get an idea of what they offered. I was quite impressed with the selection. When we arrived, I was surprised at the location because where it is located, I've passed it numerous times and didn't realize it was there. I was happy because there is plenty of parking directly behind this location, including valet. This place is a nice size and was pretty crowded. Thankfully, the wait wasn't too long. When we were seated, we were greeted by this really pleasant and bubbly waitress (Maia). She had a great personality, and was very knowledgeable of the menu. She started us off with a carafe of Strawberry- Orange Juice, which was sooo good! She was very patient with our party, because we usually have one person who has to ask a lot of questions and is very indecisive. I ordered the Matt's Meaty skillet. The skillet was really good. It was not an huge portion, but it was a nice sized portion which I was unable to finish. Normally, the skillet comes with a bagel, but I was able to substitute that with a small order of pancakes. The pancakes were so good and light, hence the reason I wasn't able to finish my skillet. Later, Maia brought us a huge cinnamon roll, which I ate after I got home, and it was really good. This is one of those places that you must go on a beautiful weekend morning with good friends. I promise that you will enjoy it. Make sure to ask for Maia. She was great! Btw, I forgot to mention the pricing. I think that the prices are pretty good, based on their location. This is one of those places that you will definitely want to go again and again. Make sure to get the Strawberry-Orange...
Read moreI am a little shocked that this location received so many positive reviews. I’m not one to complain as much as what I will be writing in this review. Firstly aesthetic is cute, however the food is not so much. The service was decent. I would’ve given it three stars had the server accommodated us. I ordered the chicken and biscuit and it looked very delicious. However when I eat it it was extremely hard to chew and it actually taste like rubber. When people describe chicken as rubber I always assumed they were being dramatic as I could never believe chicken to be more rubber like. They also described on their menu that it is the “soon to be worlds best chicken”. I could not even cut through, to the point where when I was cutting it my sister was asking me why I was taking so long to cut the chicken. When our server asked if everything was all right I told him no and I explain to him that the chicken was not chewable. he asked if I wanted it replaced and i declined due to timing, I asked if we could just remove from the bill and I’ll just eat the grits for now. The flavor was sadly so bland, there was no flavor in the grits so forewarn you. The waiter apologizes and takes our ticket and comes back with the new bill. He removed my chicken and biscuit entree but he still charged me for the grits, that I actually did not even eat. I was shocked that they even charged me for the grits. In this situation, where the chicken is not edible and cannot be chewed or cut (which is the main dish) the least you could have done was not even charge me for the grits. By the way the grits was the side that came with the dish. Anyways, it was a huge disappointment. Photos of the before and after...
