I hate hotels. I'm also not really easy to please when it comes to out-of-town lodging. So when I knew I needed to be in Atlanta for a few days, I began looking online for a "non-hotel" that could provide most of the comforts of home. That's when I found Studios on 25th -- and boy am I glad I did!
From the moment I pulled into the parking lot and realized the place looked exactly like the online photos, I was encouraged. However, when I pressed the entry code to my studio and opened the door, I was genuinely surprised.
The studio was well appointed and felt immediately like "home." Modern furnishings, huge flatscreen TV, speedy WiFi Internet, comfortable Queen-sized bed, renovated bathroom with glass enclosed walk-in shower -- these were just a few of the amenities I noticed right away. Also, the place was clean...and I mean CLEAN as in it looked AND smelled fresh. One of my gripes with hotels is that housekeepers have very little time to spend on each room. Hotels also use a cheap detergent which makes the linens and towels smell mediciny. That was not the case here.
The location was quiet and central to everywhere I needed to be. Property manager “Dee” was extremely helpful and patient in attending to all of my questions and concerns. However, the best part was the rate. Hotels in Atlanta go for $200 - $300 per night, but this was under $100. Plus, no mandated valet parking fee of $35 or more per night... parking was free and right outside my door.
If I had any complaint at all, it would be that the walls were somewhat thin. Although the property was completely sold out I didn’t hear any other guests, but I did briefly hear housekeeping next door one morning. Still, it didn’t bother me much and was rather small compared to the entire experience.
So, goodbye Atlanta hotels. The next time I'm in the area, I will definitely be back to Studios on 25th. It was everything I...
Read moreBCA Brookwood Courtyard is a prime example of an overrated and outdated lodging establishment. I experienced the following during my stay there January 20-27, 2024:||Worn furnishings, musty smells, sticky and creaky old hardwood floors,| rusty kitchen knifes, poorly flushing toilet, slow draining sinks, leaking shower door, difficult to operate/low quality window shades.||The front of this building is approximately 40 feet from the Amtrak train tracks! And noisewise it’s the evident of trying to sleep in a train station. Nothing like the 4:30 am and 11:30 pm train horn blasts to start and end your days. ||When I inquired about the train via phone prior to booking I was lied to by BCA’s managers, Micheal and Mark. I was promised an end unit on the parking lot side of the building. And, was told that it would be relatively free of train noise. Well, they didn’t deliver on that unit. I was forced to take a front unit. Not that it would have mattered given the buildings’ proximity to the tracks. I also spoke to two other residents who were on the parking lot side and both stated that they too were constantly bombarded with the train noise. ||I was originally booked for a two month stay there. Upon arriving I wisely rescheduled, left after seven days and booked a nice quiet Airbnb bungalow in the Old Fourth Ward near the Atlanta BeltLine. ||Blistering train noise, rundown facilities and dishonest management: the perfect storm of lodging experiences. Read moreThe customer service was extremely poor, with a lack of personal attention and flexibility! Before I made the booking, I inquired about the possibility of an early check-in. While hotels are usually more accommodating in this regard, I wanted to ensure this option before confirming my reservation. They informed me that I would need to pay an additional $40 for early check-in, to which I agreed, and I proceeded with the booking.
During the verification process, the manager called me, and I once again reiterated my need for an early check-in. He assured me that my card would be charged for early check-in after the verification process.
Suddenly, I realized that I couldn't arrive earlier because the room was occupied, making it impossible. As a result, I found myself on the street from 10 am to 4 pm. Nobody cared about my request, offered any discount, or provided a solution to resolve the problem. I was extremely frustrated and upset. Despite the numerous instructions and charges, when an unexpected situation arose, I was left to deal with it on my own, even though I had informed them twice about my early...
