I last came to this joint about 20 years ago so this is my first review. I don't remember anything about that visit because I was probably drunk and with friends, though I do remember the birds.
So this place is set up like a bedouins tent, with tables and chairs. Employees dress very casual as it's a very casual atmosphere, however you will see all walks of life and dress styles here, from business people to casual. Waitstaff are all pretty laid back but efficient and friendly.
Menu is pretty eclectic. You can do breakfast all day, or sandwich, or burger, or wraps, or a pretty solid blend of different stuff, including some vegan type stuff that I ignore. 😎
Today I had the R-hearty big breakfast which is french toast with bananas, 2 eggs your style, your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage, and some kind of potato hashbrown medley, which is kind of bland but still tastes good. The french toast was made perfect and tasted delicious. Eggs over medium were perfect, ham was good. I also had a side of sourdough toast, that was a pleasant surprise.
Wife had chicken curry basil wrap. She wasn't impressed. The curry tasted chalky, there was a bit too much basil to it and the curry overwhelmed the red and yellow peppers and other ingredients, so we wouldn't recommend that. Prices are moderate, but we'll just go to IHOP for breakfast next time.
Overall the place has a certain charm to it, parking is adequate, birds outside are cool (Peaches and Cream like their necks scratched, and Sam the Toucan has no interest in anything but he's cool to look at!).
I'll probably come back in...
Read moreI came here with high hopes that I would get a good late night meal, but I was let down. I came around 10pm and was a bit confused at the signage on the To-Go window. The wording and hours were inconsistent with Google which said they "closed at 11pm" (though I knew it was said to be 24/7). We decided to ask the man at the window if they were closed or closing soon and he just walked away without a word then came back. We asked again and he kept looking at the sign as if we didn't read it before saying yes. That was an odd first impression, but he ended up being nice otherwise and I understand being a worker in a night shift isn't very fun so I wasn't too upset anyhow.
What really disappointed me was the food and the pricing. I ordered one of the special combos with French toast, eggs, chicken sausage, and cheese grits. There was also a "Take Out Fee" of almost $3 for some reason which I was unaware of until I had to pay. It was all around $20 which is quite steep for one meal with no drinks or anything, but I heard the portions were good so I continued.
When I got home and opened the food I was met with a very disappointingly small portion. The French toast pieces were tiny with only one tiny slice of banana on each but they tasted great otherwise, the eggs were mostly tasteless, the chicken sausage was tough, but the grits were pretty good.
Maybe the food is better when you are dining in or something, but I don't think I want to waste another $20 trying to find out. I wanted to like this place but I am not so sure I can say it was a great experience...
Read moreWhat an eclectic place! The whimsy, color, and live and outside the live and noisy parrots! It's an oddity just south of Buckhead.
A friend and I enjoy trying new restaurants. Finding one isn't as easy as one might think. Well, at least for me, it isn't. I need a combination of an interesting menu and really good restaurant inspection scores. I'm not going to patronize one whose score is less than 90.
Here, we had breakfast, a deceptively easy meal. It's so easy that many places mess it up with overcooked breakfast meats, rubbery eggs, and food that's not hot.
None of that happened here.
I had scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, (involuntarily) gluten-free(🤔) pancakes, and a side of fruit. It was ALL delicious!
I say involuntarily on the pancakes because I wanted pancakes so badly that I reluctantly ordered the gluten-free pancakes on the hope that they wouldn't be awful.
They weren't; they were wonderful!
The fruit was fresh cut and flavorful; the chicken sausage cooked to perfection (I needed 3 not 2 pieces, yum!) and tasty scrambled eggs cooked medium, not runny (yuk) or hard and rubbery.
The service was friendly, and I definitely will be going back to try other menu items.
P.S. Their inspection score has ranged from 91 to 96 (an A) every year since 2018.
That's VERY...
