I have been to Ace Hardware a few times! I am always pleased with the service and with the knowledge the employees have - and share! However, I always stop to look and to search through their vast display of plants! WOW!!!! I found a most beautiful large Collius plant, full of babies sprouting away, and showing very healthy growth too! I am very happy with it. I added my Miracle Gro plant food and water the day I purchased it. I have left it alone since then and will check the dirt for dampness later today. My final words on Ace Hardware is for you to simply just GO THERE!!! You most likely will find something you need and/or want, as they are well stocked! A very pleasant environment too! FRIDAY, 05.17.19: I RETURNED TO ACE HARDWARE TODAY DUE TO THE FACT THAT BOTH, NOT ONE, BUT BOTH OF MY COLLEUS PLANTS' LEAVES ARE DROPPING OFF - "DEAD" DEAD LIKE FLIES!!! I FED THEM BOTH MIRACLE GRO PLANT FOOD AND CONSISTENTLY HAVE GIVEN THEM WATER; HOWEVER, THE LEAVES WHICH FALL OFF ARE DEAD! I AM AN ADVENT PLANT GROWER OF ALL KINDS OF PLANTS FOR OVER 30 YEARS! I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE! THEN I EXAMINED THE "DIRT" AND REALIZED IT, IN FACT, WAS NOT DIRT BUT SOME TYPE OF MOSS! IN SPEAKING WITH THE TWO MEN AT ACE TODAY, THE TALLEST MAN DEBATED WHAT I WAS TELLING HIM, HE STATED THAT THE DIRT HAS WHITE LITTLE BALLS IN IT PROVIDE MOISTURE OR SOMETHING -- HE WOULD NOT LISTEN TO ME AT ALL! I REPEATED MY ISSUES WITH THE PLANTS AND FOUND MYSELF REPEATING WHAT HAS HAPPENED AND THAT THE LEAVES ARE FALLING OFF - DEAD!!! I RECEIVED NO UNDERSTANDING, NO CREDIT TO KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, AND DEFINITELY - NOR DID I RECEIVE ANY APOLOGY OR RESPECT OF ANY SORT THAT POSSIBLY, THEY MADE AN ERROR! I PURCHASED TWO MORE BAGS OF POTTING SOIL TO RE-POT THE PLANTS MYSELF! THIS COSTED ME OVER $17.00, NOW REALIZED THAT EACH PLANT COSTED $16.xx AND $17.xx RESPECTIVELY! I WALKED UP TO THE REGISTER, UNDERSTANDING THAT IT WAS NEAR THEIR CLOSING TIME; BUT NEVER EXPECTED TO BE ILL-TREATED: STILL NO APOLOGY AND I REPEATED MY ISSUES AND WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO MY 2 PLANTS; I WAS TOTALLY IGNORED; I PAID FOR THE DIRT AND HAD MY SHOPPING CART WITH ME. I FOLDED UP MY RECEIPT WHEN THE SAME TALL SALESMAN CAME UP BEHIND ME AND SAID "WHAT'S GOING ON?" WELL, I IGNORED HIM, PUT MY WALLET BACK IN MY POCKET BOOK, AND PUT ONE BACK OF DIRT IN MY CART, THEN THE OTHER. I RECEIVED NO "THANK-YOU FOR THE PURCHASE, I RECEIVED NO RESPECT OR UNDERSTANDING, I RECEIVED NO APOLOGY FOR THE CONDITION OF MY PLANTS BEING NOT IN DIRT AND DYING!!!!!!! I LEFT APPALLED, AND DISRESPECTED. THIS LEFT ME WITH REGRETS OF WRITING SUCH AN HONEST AND POSITIVE CRITIQUE LAST MONTH ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE IN ACE HARDWARE!!! WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE - YOU TELL ME???
08.02.19: Well, my faith has been restored, as I have had a few personal discussions with Michael, the Store Owner, along with Ace's plant specialist, as a means of them humbly apologizing for the distasteful way I had been treated! Read moreI have been visiting this location for the past year to refill my propane tanks about twice a month. I also purchase small tools and miscellaneous items. I came in today to get a refund on a couple items. The lady at the counter immediately gave me attitude. I was trying to get a refund so I can purchase the correct items. She just waved me off and said go look for what I needed. The gentleman on the floor was extremely helpful and accommodating, giving me information on when they would have the product back in stock and to check their website. When I went back up to the counter to get the refund, the lady said I should just keep the original products that I bought because they wouldn’t be able to resell it. Then she continued to mumble under her breath and shaking her head while processing my refund. I don’t understand why that is necessary.

Apparently, there was miscommunication between the sales associate and me since Ace DOES take returns without receipts. They can look up past purchases in their system, and will provide store credit even if the receipt/purchase cannot be located. So I'm updating my review (minus one star for the hassle).]
I desperately want to support my local shops, Ace included. However, when you won’t take back merchandise without a receipt (that I just bought this week, from the same cashier, to boot), you’re making it difficult for me to patronize you.
