If you are looking for a REAL GYM rather than a franchised fitness center or cookie-cutter gym, then Snap Fitness is the place you need to be! When I moved to the city, I needed a gym. I picked Snap Fitness initially because it was close to my work and home and it was not expensive. I really knew nothing else about the facility, but I quickly grew accustomed to the faces I would see in the gym and to the staff working at the facility. I'd say that the gym is the best in the city. I've been to several of the big name gyms, and this one is the best: best quality equipment, best variety, best trainers, best classes, best hours (24-hour access card), best price, best atmosphere. My main gym is the Glenwood Park location, but I've been to 2 other locations and I like them also. The staff at each facility are friendly and engaging, and this is important to me. The classes are a lot of fun as well and teach you proper body mechanics and form, which will prevent you from getting injured. The trainers really know what they're doing, and you can trust their instructions. They are all certified trainers, and they really want to see you reach your goals. If you follow their instructions, you will see results. During the classes, you also learn new exercises every week to keep your workouts new and exciting. I take the Small Groups Training classes, and I love them. I have learned to do exercises that I didn't even know existed, and I have made workout friends along the way. If you purchase the SGT classes, you get a MyZone belt to keep track of your effort and calories burned. I've actually never seen anything like this. It's pretty innovative. The equipment is great and if you want to keep your workouts fresh and new, this gym has enough equipment and stations to allow you to do so. They've got real free weights, real squat racks, cardio stuff you've probably never seen before, resistance bands, boxes for jumping, ropes, TRX cables, stretch stations, weighted balls, and all of the usual stuff you see in gyms. They are always adding new stuff, too. The Glenwood location just recently added turf for kettle bell swings, box jumps, and exercises of this nature. I rarely leave the turf! The atmosphere is great as well. The crowd at Glenwood Park is mostly working professionals and post-college adults. The people who are in the gym share a common interest: to improve their health and physical performance. It's actually motivating to see others pushing their bodies to the limit. I've actually made a handful of friends since I joined the gym, and I look for these people when I come in. It's just motivating to see people that I recognize and I can wave at, we don't even work out together usually. The gyms are never over-crowded and I can always gain access to the piece of equipment that I want to use. The owner is often at the Glenwood Park location, and he's very down to earth, enthusiastic about fitness, and will sometimes hop in and work out with you. The staff always speak to me when I am there, and I was never pressured to upgrade my membership like some gyms often do to their members. If I leave my headphones at home, the music in the gym is very upbeat and I can work out without my personal playlist. Sometimes I actually take my headphones off to listen to what the...
Read moreI've worked out at over 470+ gyms across the world and can proudly say Snap Fitness Atlanta Glenwood Park is a TOP TIER GYM.
[11/10] Cleanliness: I don't think I've ever seen a gym where there is a staff member on rotation EHOH (every hour on the hour lol) cleaning. It's spotless. They set a precedent for members to pick up their weights and wipe off their equipment. I felt so safe here during the pandemic!
[10/10] Equipment: In all my years of gym hopping I've never seen some of the equipment available in this gym. They thought of everything.
It's very inclusive for all skill levels. I don't sense gymtimidation here.
It's made training here a breeze for cutting, bulking to conditioning seasons. From athletic training conditioning tools, BEAUTIFUL (clean)black turf, fresh stack of KBs, ENDLESS HIGH QUALITY Rogue plates/bars/racks, ropes, DBs, cables, GHD to HYPERICES! I can't believe this price point for this amount of accessibility.
Only downside is maybe that there isn't a pre-set up bench press? But I'll take the hip thrust back bar insert as a way better exchange.
[12/10] Community & Staff: From Darrius, Tiffany, to Derek I'm always so impressed by their compassion and drive to support their members growth. Whether it's a kind welcome, motivation to push through or randomly sharing tips to upgrade my workout they're always the greatest start to my day!
*Ladies - This might be the first gym in ITP Atlanta where I haven't encountered creepy men. The women here are so kind and supportive! Everyone is in their own zone, respectful, kind and will hype you up once you're a consistent face. I've done great networking with business leaders in this gym.
[7/10] Location/Parking: Location is so safe and accessible! The location looks small from the outside, but it's HUGE on the inside. Parking isn't ideal, but if you get there early you can park across at the lot next to Emmy's or find street parking between Enso/Kroger!
What you don't get: Sauna, Showers
What you get instead: A gym YOU WANT to consistently show up to and build into your healthy lifestyle...
Read moreIt seems to be an awesome gym, if only we could have used what we paid for (we didn't access the gym with a keycard even once between two people for the duration of our membership, given COVID).
After two failed attempts to cancel our membership with varying levels of misinformation at each point of communication, Michael Gunsallus, District Manager for Snap Fitness Atlanta, refused to honor a refund of membership fees paid erroneously due to his staff's error in canceling our memberships as requested, (and failed to to let us know that he wouldn't- we received absolutely no response). Staff we spoke to at the facility confirmed their error, but unfortunately Michael didn't feel like bothering to fix it, I suppose.
During a time where humans are losing their homes, jobs, and more, it's rather disgusting to see services such as a fitness center not moving with empathy and understanding. It's clear by the actions of this facility that their intentions are to siphon your funds and provide unclear rules to cancelling your membership, then deny any wrongdoing on their behalf after clear evidence is presented.
I'm happy to share my experience with anyone interested, but potential gym goers, beware. If you are okay with being locked into an ambiguous 'contract' with no clear resolution, go for it. Otherwise, I'd look for a facility that doesn't resort to essentially stealing your money to...
