I really wish I could give this small museum five stars and a glowing review but I cannot. It's squirreled away on a big city hall campus. Once I found it I was greeted at the door and told I could start anywhere in the museum. I was delighted by the glossy and beautiful displays talking about Aurora's neighborhoods. I saw a trolley. Then I saw a hodge podge of...stuff. I watched an interesting video on Denver and browsed a big display on Nepal. Nepal is pretty great actually so I learned something but... I do feel more history about Aurora could be shared. Tons of space was just oddly utilized. Why?

We went on 4/26/25 when they were celebrating Aurora's 137th birthday with a party! There was Miss Deborah who was painting faces, there was birthday cake, snacks and fun activities for the kids to do. My three year old loved having her face painted and playing outside with the other kiddos. We also went through the Colorado dinosaur exhibit with really cool fossils and bones to check out! There is a huge Torosaurus Skull and a huge woolly mammoth bone! We had a great time and everyone was just so kind to my daughter and I. The best part, admission was FREE!!

Some people on here talked about having a guide, that’s about the only thing that could have made this free little Museum even better. There’s a small variety of items helping to detail the history of Aurora as well as photographs. The life size trolley car is a highlight. I liked reading all the old fashioned advertising. There is also a modest gift shop with some Colorado/Aurora related items. And some cute greeting cards.

✨🏛️ Aurora History Museum 🏛️✨

A Treasure Trove of Local Heritage

I recently visited the Aurora History Museum and was thoroughly impressed by the experience! The museum is a gem in the heart of the city, showcasing the rich and diverse history of Aurora with elegance and educational depth.

🎨 The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering a vibrant tapestry of local history, culture, and art. Each display is not only informative but also engaging, making it a fantastic educational experience for visitors of all ages.

👩‍🏫 The staff deserves special mention for their knowledge and enthusiasm. They were incredibly friendly and eager to share stories and insights that brought the exhibits to life. Their passion for Aurora's history is contagious!

📚 What I loved most was how the museum weaves the city's past into a narrative that is both comprehensive and accessible. From historical artifacts to interactive sections, there’s something to pique everyone's interest. It’s a wonderful way to spend a day learning about the local heritage and its impact on the community today.

👏 Kudos to the Aurora History Museum for creating such a welcoming space that honors the past while inspiring curiosity and learning. It’s a must-visit for anyone in the area or those traveling through. A true 5-star experience!

We stopped by this small museum in the Aurora Municipal Center campus near the city hall, courts, public library, etc. Entering we were greeted by a staff member who explained the different exhibits - currently there are three: Growing Home, Hometown Pride, and One Small Step. The permanent exhibit Growing Home provides an overview of Aurora history. It starts with the various neighborhoods that make up the city and their origins - a wall-sized aerial picture of the city has the locations of the various neighborhoods highlighted, and next to that are a series of information panels that give a short description of each neighborhoods origin and history, complete...
