This park is pretty packed at times and although it looks like your everyday updated modern Park, it's still del Mar Park on Peoria and del Mar. A huge variety of people and groups of people. Many large family BBQs. Smooth paved cement for longboarding and skateboarding, also speed biking.... There are BBQ pits near volleyball sand pits! The Senior center has been remodeled since I was a kid and the park, pool and The center, share a giant parking lot. Lake many parks in Aurora, you may find that the laboratories are locked at any given time. This park is a likely place for Auroras colorful homeless population to gather but the park is pretty spread out. Like all parks in big cities there are the typical narcotics and gang dangers to be on the lookout for. Read moreI used to go to this park a lot as a kid and as the years went on the park got worse and worse, trash everywhere, beer cans littered the grass and homeless people scattered the place. I moved out of CO 3 years ago and went back a few weeks ago for the first time in 3 years and was AMAZED at how much the park had changed! The entire park is completely redone and everything is practically brand new. Plus they've added a little water park! The only thing I didn't like is that the playground is now half the size it was before. The new equipment is nice but there isn't very much of it so the kids didn't stay entertained...

Except for the homless fight and the cops' investigation and arrest, the person removed to the hospital, this experience was a positive one. There's plenty of space and some shelter for picnicking and public grills for cooking (though I definitely suggest using foil or planning for cleaning the grills before use!)
