This location has been a nightmare to deal with, the staff in the lobby are very rude and indifferent to the needs of their clients and only show interest when you are spending money with them. The care tech who worked with me before I saw the doctor; was rude and made the process unnecessary uncomfortable and kept trying to get me to spend an extra 500 to have a test done that was not needed and told me I needed to check if I was diabetic or if I'm at risk for going blind despite the fact that I have no risk factors for either other those to things occuring in my medical history. Once he realized I wasn't going to add on this service he dismissed me into the waiting area to be seen by the doctor. Over all my exam with the doctor was great and the only good interaction I've had at this location but, unfortunately it is because even after my exam and ordering two pairs of glasses, and was explained to that I'd get an email for the visit with my new prescription and they would let me know when my glasses came in. They never contacted me when they arrived and were ready to be picked up only to discover that somehow they were under another person's name despite my insurance and name being used at the time of ordering them. This was roughly 6 months ago and both pair have fallen apart. I've had glasses since the second grade and never have I had glasses fall part. My pair before theses lasted me 5 years. When I contacted them to get my prescription to order from a different place because I am now unable to see they said they couldn't give me my prescription because they can't give that information over the phone or email I need to go to the store because they don't have encrypted email. By law they have to give you a copy of the prescription you receive as well as it's concerning to know they don't have something as simple as encryption on their emails but apparently can still be incompliance with HIPPA knowing they work with insurance and sensitive medical patient information all day long and told me during my first visit I'd get an email with that information. So they are either lying or fail to meet the law's requirements for HIPPA. Just avoid this place save yourself...
Read moreI have to preface by saying I never write reviews. I always find them to be extreme or biased but in this situation I felt it is warranted: I have been a patient at this office for 4 years. This location doesn’t have the best customer service. They don’t seem to care about the patient’s time. They are not efficient and a simple eye exam can last 1.5-2 hours.
At this year’s exam I arrived right on time. I wasn't seen until 45 minutes after my appt. I think Dr. Lopez is great- I don’t have an issue with him- but I don’t think I have ever been seen on time for my appt. the last 4 years.
Following the exam I asked for my prescriptions because I had to race to pick up my kids from school on time.
Later I realized they had made an error and put the wrong expiration date on my contact RX (they put the same date as my eye exam) preventing my ability to purchase new ones. I tried calling and no one answered: I then had to go in person with my young children in tow to ask for them to correct it.
They didn’t acknowledge the mistake or apologize. They in fact barely spoke to me. The front desk woman was tending to multiple other phone calls with zero sense of urgency when I’m clearly having to come back to correct a mistake made by the office.
Rather than apologizing for the mistake and saying “let’s quickly get this fixed for you and get you on your way- so sorry for any inconvenience!”
They just watched me struggle with my kids and she said “I don’t know how long it will take I need the doctor’s signature and he is with a patient.”
I asked if they could email it. They said no.
My children finally couldn’t stand to wait any longer (they are 1 and 4). So I left.
I’ve never experienced such a lack of respect for the patient’s time or care. We will not be coming to this location again. If you are looking for good customer service and a time efficient practice…...
Read moreLet me start by saying I have never liked going to the eye doctor. Even doing the quick eye chart test in elementary school was just awful to me. Which is why in the 15-20 years I've been wearing glasses, I've avoided the optometrist like the plague. However, this was hands down my favorite experience. I've been to an America's Best before in McAllen, Tx so I know the process, but... The staff was so welcoming when I stepped in for the exam and the entire time I was there. Easy to schedule and check-in. Standard "new patient" form that took less than 5 minutes. The gal doing the pre-exam for Dr. Lopez was so pleasant and enjoyable definitely putting me at ease and didn't force any "extra fancy" tests. (I know there's not much terribly wrong with my eyes so I don't feel anything beyond a basic exam is warranted.) Meeting with Dr. Lopez was by far the best exam I've had ever. Not only was it an easy and routine exam, but he took the time to go through the results and changes in my prescription. And the chit-chat didn't feel forced which was nice. I'm sure they get a lot of one-time patients, but I didn't feel like a one-time patient - and I hope not to be. The rest of the team was fantastic, too. I can't remember his name, but the guy helping with the frames was able to help me find a few new pairs fairly quickly and decide on lens types as well. Thankfully, the glasses came in early and Digi(?) was quick to fit the for me. TBH, I've never had anyone actually look and fit my glasses to my nose and ears.
Really, just an all around pleasant experience for someone that hates going in for eye exams. Like I said, I'll try to make sure I'm not one of their "one-time" patients just in for a quick exam and the standard...
