Happy to have a board game (and comics!) shop south of the river. I hear they assess and buy old comics too. The space is big and open with neutral tones that makes it really welcoming and inviting. They’ve got a number of tables to play demo games from their library or bring your own and purchase drinks or snacks for $1 to go with your gaming. Tables can be reserved online or drop by and play on any open one. Friday nights starting at 6pm is open gaming, so you can come join others looking to play. I’m impressed with the variety of board games they have available from crunchier games like Ark Nova with expansions and promo packs available, Scythe, Terraforming Mars (OG, Ares, and Dice variants) to Castles of Burgundy, Castle Panic!, Creature Comforts, Wingspan…down to simple, fun party games (XXL Codenames, Mountain Goats, Skulls, Bananagrams, multiple Fluxx boxes—Monty Python Fluxx expansion pack to the Monty Python Fluxx base game, say what?! first time seeing one for sale in a store! Firefly fans, they have Firefly Fluxx on the demo shelf‼️) and classics like Sorry! Really happy to have this neighborhood shop and the staff is super cool, nice and friendly. Join the free rewards program: for every $100 spent, get $5 to use in store.

I went inside out of curiosity and had a look, I'm not really addicted to it but the inside was very clean and nice and the employees were polite. We took a look and left. The comics look very nice and colorful.

'Bat City Games and Comics' is a bright and shining Star in the universe of gaming shops I've visited. There is a vast selection of comic books, games and collectibles in this well organized shop. Being a gamer at heart, my greatest interests is in the games. In this regard the store contains a wide variety of games along with complete series of certain games. For example, the Axis and Allies series of games is well represented. If you like space games, fantasy games, role-playing games, card game, short games, or long games you will find something to meet your need. The shop sports over 10 gaming tables for different size groups. For customers to play their own games or check out new ones they just bought. With a collection of demo games for people to try before they buy. This is a definite bonus. Magic tournaments, gaming camps for kids, friendly knowledgeable, and helpful staff all add up to make it an easy decision to check out 'Bat City Games and Comics Below are two games that I recently tried from the store.

I’ve been a customer here since it opened. Help spread awareness about the events it hosted, told everyone I know to go support.

I will be doing this no longer. The customer service has gone completely down hill since the original owner and young manager left. The last straw was last week, my husband and I were treated very disrespectfully by the assistant manager, Nick. I had two comics in my pill box, I’m buying one and told him I canceled the other & I guess it unfortunately didn’t cancel on time. He snatched it from my hand, told me “I’ve seen you do this before and it’s been a problem. This does not need to happen again.”, then signaled the other employee, that was busy organizing something else, to come over here and check us out. Then he stomped away and sat down at his computer. For reference, he was just standing up & watching the tv screen, not doing anything, before I came to the corner. He just couldn’t be bothered with us because I didn’t buy one comic, mind you I was buying multiple other comic books. Also, we’ve never seen this man before, and for him to talk to us like that and give us this very pouty attitude was very unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude.

This store used to be about community but I don’t see that anymore. The last five or six times we’ve come in the employees have given us weird looks and are very stand-offish and don’t like answering customer’s questions. I always want support small businesses, especially in times like these, but we will not be back to it. We will not stand for being disrespected like that, especially when we did nothing wrong and am trying to support this potentially wonderful business.

It’s a shame this has happened to this store. Hopefully it turns it around one day but you lost these loyal customers. Canceling our pull box and not...

Bat City is hands down one of the best Magic: The Gathering stores I’ve ever visited. The shop is always clean, well-organized, and has an incredible selection of cards — including those rare and hard-to-find gems that collectors are always chasing. Just walking through the store feels exciting because you know you might come across something special.

What truly sets Bat City apart, though, is their amazing customer service. It’s not just good — it’s exceptional. Every interaction, whether in-store or through Facebook messages, has been met with friendliness, patience, and a genuine willingness to help. They actually listen, they answer quickly, and they always make you feel like a valued customer, not just another sale.

They also have a rewards system that makes shopping here even more fun, but honestly, what keeps me coming back is the way they treat people. You can tell they really care about their community of players and collectors. It’s rare these days to find a store where you feel both welcomed and appreciated, and Bat City delivers that experience every single time.

If you’re in Austin or anywhere nearby, Bat City is absolutely worth visiting. You’ll find great cards, a welcoming atmosphere, and a staff that goes above and beyond to make sure you leave happy. Stores like this are what keep the Magic...
