The Bullock Texas State History Museum roared a few new artifacts and enjoyed the 'A Better Life for Their Children' exhibit. This museum is very inviting to all and learn about Texas history through the years.

Saw Animal Kingdom 3D at the IMAX. Definitely worth seeing movie on this giant screen with great picture & sound where a few different documentaries are shown during the day and then in the evening a theatrical movie.

Carros y Cultura exhibit going on to celebrate lowriding in Texas. There were many vehicles on display including bikes showing the artistry of the creators with their Mexican influence.
There were a lot of tourists here even on a Wednesday to see not this exhibit but the permanent ones and IMAX theater. The Star Cafe is a great option to have lunch at. Outside can explore the newly opened Republic of Texas Mall and spot some sculptures of locate state animals.

Another visit and noticed a few new items on display and the 'Sharks' exhibition which was very informative with lots of interactive displays. The gift shop also had some new merchandise and new movies at the IMAX theater.
There was some new membership changes where the most significant is the parking vouchers now expire a year from receiving them. If you have any old Red ones then they will swap them out with new ones. I believe the Blue ones are still good. Another change is the vouchers are now used for 50% off member game day parking for Texas Longhorn home football games where used to be free.
The Star Cafe was open and had lunch there. The staff was very friendly and the...
Read moreTaught History for 30 years. The Bullock Museum is the worst museum I have ever been to. You did it wrong, the curator made mistakes. It was obvious it was made to be kid friendly and yet it is not for kids. The readings and exhibits were at best lame and were even boring to adults. End game. You could do like the US Constitution Center in Philly, have a room that has an actor discuss and expound on the Texan Revolution, lights music booms of canon, circular amphitheatre, another room could have dozens of macbooks or the like, faces of the hundreds of Texans, good and bad, hit the screen and short bios of each, in the room that lacked any wild west aspect you could have burning mesquite and the smell of gunsmoke, something for the senses other than reading plackards or watching videos that lack historical integrity. The Texas Revolution video just pass on, it's obvious the real details of that brutal conflict was dumbed down to not scare kids. I get that, though have some sense of the massacres at the Alamo and expecially Goliad. San Jacinto is hardly explained at all. There are hardly any kid friendly hands on exhibits. Lasso a stone calf, smell rain on cactus, hear the stadium rock as the Cowboys win a game...not happening at this museum. The Bullock structure is awesome, very impressive, the guts suck. Mt Vernon, through DC, Antietam, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, you can do better than all combined. It's Texas. You can do better.
This email will probably not be read by a human. Had to throw my two cents...
Read moreThis museum has a lot of potential. The building is beautiful with plenty of space for interesting exhibits. The soaring ceilings and lofty windows enhance the experience. I think the exhibits themselves could use some improvement. In general, they were not as interactive as most similar museums'exhibits are nowadays. The couple of interactive games always had long lines. Perhaps the curators could visit the Fernbank in Atlanta, the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, or the Mayborn Museum in Waco ( just to name a few) to get some inspiration. The Cafe was very dirty around 2 pm in the afternoon and it was very clear it was understaffed. Almost every table needed to be wiped down and there was no clean place to sit even though the cafe was nearly empty. I had to wipe down a table for my family using baby wipes I had in my stroller. The carpet on the ground also seemed like a very poor and strange choice for a cafe of this sort and was covered in food and crumbs and popcorn. The fryer was down so you couldn't order any fries and chicken tenders. While the chicken tenders for $5 seemed like a good deal, the hot dog for $5 seemed too high in price for what it was. Overall, I enjoyed the visit, since it was free on the day I visited, and I would be interested in going back sometime but I don't think I would purchase a membership or visit again where I had to...
