Got to check out this cute German Restaurant / hang out … loved the eating area out back but it was closed for a party … the vintage inside was cool as well. It was really loud with some tables very close together but the waiter was great and moved us to another area that was a little quieter (however it was still loud and a hard to hear my freind). The restaurant vibe was fun and nice for big parties. The giant pretzel was amazing and so delicious- a must get! We shared beef tips, the Greek goddess salad and the hot potato. All was good. The beef tips were more “gravy” and a few bit sized pieces of beef, so I wouldn’t order that again but everything else was great. The wait staff was friendly and nice when you could get their attention. We got our drinks but no check backs for refills (even on water). After our meal was delivered the waiter was not back to check on us, refill drinks, never brought extra napkins requested - staff was around but never made eye contact with our table, stopped to check and could not hear our “excuse me” when leaving the table next door…. we had to catch a show, so we got up and went to the bar to ask to pay for our meal … it was busy, but it would have been easily possible to drop napkins, water and the bill after delivering the food. Would try it again, but the service side could use a step up. Would be a great place to grab beers and hang out on the patio … overall good and clearly a fun spot - but needed more follow up on the...
Read moreLet me first mention Jordan!! He was our server and a fabulous one he was! Now when we arrived at the restaurant we checked in with the “hostess” she took our name and said it would be about 15min. She left to show a couple to their table in another part of the restaurant. She never returned! By this time we’d been waiting at least 30min. They were backing up out the door. Although we weren’t complaining another man was and he hadn’t been there that long as his name was 4th on the list. At that time my group of 3 was next to be seated and there were already several tables opened up and busted so Jordan was going to give a table to the complainant. Probably to shut him up. BUT nope, that’s when I took over and started filling the empty tables with customers waiting before said complainant got his way. By this time the “hostess” had been gone a good 25+min when she shows up and starts calling out everyone that had already been seated except for the complaining man which she was able to show him to his table in another area. Back to Jordan! He was kind/friendly and knew his menu well. We ordered right away and our food was out in no time! We sat down and ate in less time then we waited on the “hostess” to seat us. We will be back and if need to we can seat ourselves. Oh and the food...
Read moreWe stopped in on the same day of the 3M Half Marathon and this place was HOPPING! Immediately upon entering you’re hit with the delicious smell of smoked meat and general welcoming German pub vibes. It’s dark and still decorated for Christmas which is charming.
We were sat down quickly and brought waters, then ordered some tea. The tea came in practically gallon containers (ok, maybe liter) and was fantastic. My Arnold Palmer even came with a spoon to mix it up - I think they make their own lemonade here!
The pretzel was crunchy on the outside and melty soft and warm on the inside. Almost like a donut but savory. OMG it was so good. It came with garlic butter and mustard along with some cheese. We also got some red cabbage rotkohl - so yummy.
Our turkey sandwich and weisswurst did not disappoint. I sent the menu to my German friend and she was like “wow, that place looks legit!” And as far as I can tell, it is!
We are visiting Austin to celebrate my mom’s birthday and I slipped away to ask our waitress and another staff member if they did anything for birthdays. They came out in a hot dog suit to sing my mom happy birthday and we both loved it. I so appreciate the kind welcoming service we got at Scholz. We...
