I go to Greg about 4 times a week and I like the gym a lot, but I don’t necessarily love it. Especially during the beginning parts of the semesters, the gym could get extremely overcrowded which makes it a bit harder to work out, but there isn’t really anything Greg can do about that so just a fair warning that the gym can get really packed. I like the variety of machines they have because my home gym didn’t have most of these machines so I feel like I am getting a lot more targeted work outs done when I go. I also took swimming classes at UT where we used the Greg pool and I loved it. The indoor pool was so peaceful, I could stay in it all day if that were allowed. I really enjoyed the depth of the pool and how people don’t tend to go there very often so I had a lot of lane space to myself. There is also a Shake Smart in Greg which is convenient placement because I can go there whenever I forget my protein and still get my fix for the day in. I def recommend checking Greg out at least once, or more, if you are into...
Read moreEspecially for a premier university, this place is a dump. I have never seen such looking, rusty, equipment in my life. The stuff that isnt falling apart are bottom shelf matrix machines that are so un ergonomic they ruin your workout...somehow those have rust too. The locker rooms are not great either. The selection of equipment is miserable and simple things such as handles for cable machines do not exist. There are a total of 4 cables usually working for an entire gym. Basic equipment such as cable row machines and chest flys are missing. There is just a single leg press machine Thats all if u can even snag any equipment because there is nowhere near enough equipment to accomodate all of the users. Its so bad ima have go spend 40 bucks a month for golds gym in addition to my overpriced tuition....shame on UT. My non prestigious university back home has a weight room 3 times the size of greg with brand new equipment and all the basics covered....the population of the school is also...
Read moreOne of the best gyms in town. Great pools (leisure, lap, indoor), weight equipment, multiple cardio areas, basketball courts, track, raquetball, squash, group exercise program, and cheapest personal training in town (which doesn't mean cheapest quality by any means). Downsides is it follows UT semester schedules so closes too early on Friday and Saturday, between semesters, holidays, and tough to park here unless you live nearby and have access to UT (excellent bike parking, however). Not 24 hours. Indoor pool hours only certain times of the day. Can get sponsorships for discounted membership. Clientele are mostly students, faculty, staff, and a few community members. Weight equipment is heavily used and disorganized (nested plate weights, pads need replacing some areas, missing barbell weight clamps). Avoid peak hours. Has shake food service, towels, and...
