This apartment complex has several issues that make it an unsuitable choice for students.
Although advertised as student housing, there are many non-students living here, including families and elderly residents. This misrepresentation can be disappointing for those seeking a true student community.
The staff, primarily young adults, often fail to meet basic professional standards. They frequently open the office late, and there was an instance where a staff member arrived in pajamas and did not let residents in promptly.
The current manager, Taylor, is rarely available, does not respond to emails or calls, and appears unqualified for the position. Concerns about her professional conduct have been raised by multiple residents. According to a few ex-employees that I befriended during my time at Town Lake, Taylor has used her position as manager to engage in romantic relationships with her male employees.
The front office staff never answers phone calls or returns messages and emails. The Owner’s responses here on Google Reviews encouraging residents to email are unhelpful, as these messages often go unanswered.
The amenities, including the pool, gym, volleyball court, and basketball court, are in frequently poor condition after the fall ends since the majority of residents are already moved in at that point. The pool has been under construction since December 2023, the gym equipment is faulty, and the sports courts are dirty and occasionally infested with bugs.
Fire alarms inside the apartments occasionally go off without reason, disrupting daily life.
The Wi-Fi service is unreliable and often slow.
The roommate matching system is ineffective. Despite specifying a preference for cleanliness, I was matched with extremely untidy roommates.
The building layout and signage are confusing, especially for guests. The design, which surrounds a completely different apartment complex, is impractical.
There are no functioning security cameras, which has made it difficult to address incidents of theft — which can be reiterated by other reviews discussing their robbery experiences.
These are just a few of the notable issues I encountered, and to the Owner replying to all these reviews, don’t leave a response here. It is unwanted, and it is unneeded.
I have recently moved out, and this review is intended to inform potential new residents of the challenges...
Read moreFor the price, these apartments aren't too bad. I've been living here for 3 years now with just one other roommate, and haven't had too many bad experiences. The furniture that came with the room was only lightly used and everything was fairly clean. If you're looking for something relatively cheap and livable, this place could be for you. But there are a few drawbacks to be aware of. As other reviewers have stated, the maintenance here is terrible. If it's not broken beyond repair, they won't fix it. (Lo and behold, I have had to deal with an ice maker that makes terribly loud noises every half an hour - not fun when you have a headache or are up late studying for finals - despite submitting several maintenance requests for it. Also: roaches, wasps, clogged sinks, and so on...). And if you're planning on receiving a lot of packages through their front office, be prepared to have items go missing and then suddenly get found a few weeks later, or be lost altogether. Plus, something that really irked me were their terrible parking lots. I mean, it's great that we get free parking and all, but those spaces are made for tiny cars or motorcycles, and that's it. If you've got a big truck, a van, or even just a big car, be prepared to take up a little bit more of the space than you'd like (and then, you know, get angry notes on your dash from the other residents). And there are several huge garbage disposals placed strategically where you can't possibly see around them if you're driving. I've almost been in several accidents because of this. The management here isn't great either. As other reviewers have noted, these apartments aren't exactly 'safe' to live in. They might boast a gate and a security system around the perimeter, but that gate doesn't work most of the time, and it's not hard to get in even if you don't know the code (which hasn't changed since I moved in). My boyfriend had his car radio stolen right in the parking lot, and there have been more police around than I'm comfortable with. All in all, they're not terrible apartments. I mean, I've renewed my lease twice. They're affordable and have nice furniture, and that was great for me. (And I didn't feel like moving all my stuff out.) But they've got a lot of room for...
Read morelive here if you love getting your car broken into and if you get a hard on from front desk workers lying to your face.
early october 2023 i got my car broken into (thankfully nothing was stolen), and i went to the front desk to ask them if people's cars ever get vandalized here. the girl working the front desk said no. i said okay, i got my window fixed, moved on. its a sketchy area, whatever.
not even 3 weeks later i get both of my side mirrors stolen and three of my tires deflated. i go to the front office again and ask if people ever get their cars vandalized here. the boy working the front desk said no, and i said that's funny, i was here 3 weeks ago because my car got broken into. the boy asked me if i was "the person who's car got broken into and the homeless person left a towel in there" and i said no. you lied to me. so there are multiple break in's a month here. a girl, who i'm assuming is this guys manager shut him up and the only thing she did was apologize and tell me that they texted their manager. okay? and????? can you prorate my rent or something??? i spent over $600 in car repairs in one month because of this complex, and i've only been here maybe 4 months so far.
there is rotting dog poop on the sidewalks and there is constantly trash overflowing. there is broken car window glass all over the parking lot. the stairwells are nasty.
they refuse to do literally anything to try to keep the area safe. the gates are open all the time. there are 0 cameras in the area and the complex is right next to a trail that homeless people live in and around. through my apartment window i can see a small huddle of presumably homeless people's belongings. the fencing between the complex and the trail also isn't terribly high, i'm 5'3 and i could climb and jump it if i try hard enough.
the only good thing about this place is the location. otherwise, this place is a nightmare and this complex could not care less about your safety.
tl;dr do yourself a favor and avoid this place...
