My wife and I shop here often. Been shopping at this Giant loaction for 12 years now. Haven't had any problems before, not with the store nor with any of the employee's. Infact they are typically respectful, helpful, kind & attentive employee's. Tonight was an exception. On February 9th 2021 around 11pm est I had one of your employee's be rude, disrespectful and even threaten to have me attacked by her boyfriend. This white female employee used to be friends with my wife, they grew up in this general neighborhood together and shared some of the same friends. But there was a falling out between one of their friends in their group and since then they haven't spoke for approximately 9 months, even though my wife was not the one she had the falling out with. When myself my wife and our daughter first walked in, I greeted her and the security guard with a common "Hello" as I always do to all of the employee's there out of common courtesy and manners. She did not reply, but I just continued shopping with my wife. When we went to the self checkout I was talking to my wife and I use my hands to speak, I am part Italian and tend to use my hands to talk. Just talked about masks and politics with my wife, regardless of the personal and private conversation I had with with my wife, she then spoke to me in a rude demeanor and said "Don't point at me" , in a rude and nasty tone. I then told her I did not point at her I was just using my hands to talk because that is what I do. She used foul language (profanity) in front of my 4 and a half year old daughter, was rude and threatened to have her boyfriend assault me.(The F word) Her name is Megan. She is in her late 20s. I think this behavior is inappropriate for a worker, when the customer checking out isn't even speaking to you just scanning their own items and paying for them, then they decide to start speaking to you using foul language. This is not something I have ever delt with at this Giant location before and hope to never deal with it again. My wife and I spend a lot of money here we come here at least 4-5 times a week because we live a block away (off of 43rd St) .. If there was another store near by we would never shop there again after that incident. It was inapproriate and an employee shouldn't behave that way even if they don't like the people that come into the store. My wife has worked in retail and customer service and she has never behaved that way towards customers who were rude to her, because as she was trained not to. Even if she was having a bad day, that does not excuse that behavior. Nobody was rude to her and she decided to interviene in our bubble space. We try to avoid her because she clearly has an attitude with us because of friendship history. But unfortunately we can't always do that because she is there often and we have to buy groceries for our household often. I hope nothing like this happens again because that was a truly bad experience that was completely unnecessary. She did not have to death stare at us or even speak to us, she did not want to say hello so we did not try to talk to her after that. We are still baffled by the situation that took place. She did not have to insert herself into our personal conversation if she did not want to speak to us politely. Every other employee there was completely mannerful and professional and that woman was not. Even the security guard asked her to stop multiple times during this situation. This was hostile behavior brought in to work based off of personal feelings towards myself and my wife. I shall be reporting this...
Read moreThis location is a very convenient and fully stocked grocery store with large selection of vegetables. In a city where grocery stores are hard to come by, this store is a blessing. The prices are good vs average retail pricing and they have good weekly deals. Much of the staff lives nearby or in Baltimore city, giving it a local flair sometimes missing from other stores in the county. The deli and hot meals section is a favorite of mine. They have everything from prepared hot meals, a buffet type section, fresh meats, to sushi. Their fried chicken is really good and very affordable.
Some may say the store is a bit smaller than other Giant store locations and that is true. Sometimes the aisles can be busy with other shoppers but most people are easy going. Pushing around a full sized cart can be a little difficult at times but not impossible. They have half sized carts that work better.
Even when the store is busy, the flow of shoppers entering the store, finding products, and checking out is fairly fast. Sometimes busier time is on Sunday and evenings. They have a customer service desk that always available. In more than one occasion I found them helpful when dealing with issues such as glass in the parking lot and answering questions about sales.
The best way to get deals with this store is to use their Giant account cards with their app or website. They have a number of digital deals that can offer great deals not found otherwise. Some coupon deals may even stack on already sale prices.
The store has both self check out and full check out sections. Like some of written, the store usually doesn't have all their full checkout sections open. Sometimes their self checkout machines are closed as well. Still, getting in and out is far faster than other stores.
If there is a downside, it might be the tightly packaged self check out section. During busy times it can be packed and locating open machines can be tricky. This can be make the self check out a bit more stressful for both customers and staff than found at other stores. Still, its a faster check out process than the full check out lines.
What used to be the Rotunda Giant (from years past), this location serves the area well. Its smaller than the nearby one on 33rd street and other locations. Convenience is its...
Read moreThis is a large, busy store with a friendly, overworked staff. The eclectic crowd is a mix of people from Hampden, Remington, and Johns Hopkins students. The store needs to polish it's image to attract the large Roland Park community who stay away in droves. The Rotunda Giant (which is where this store came from) is a far cry below their stores in Hunt Valley or Timonium. It needs to go a way to even meet the store at 6300 York Road. However, it is much nicer than the low end of the chain, the 33rd Street Giant. The folks in the deli department are for the most part friendly and helpful. Same with the managers who are frequently seen restocking. The hot food counter is deplorable. The salad bar is below par. I do not think they have a butcher on site. I doubt that one is needed. The bread, dairy aisle which is traditionally located farthest from the entrance of a grocery store is the most congested at this Giant. A feature display is always setup causing additional traffic jams. The store did a uninspiring cosmetic refresh last year. Nothing seemed to change or look better. Of note are the cooler doors in the dairy aisle which are frequently broken and removed. The store was once the home of The Green Spring Dairy. After the dairy closed, the A&P purchased it and opened with a big bang. Super Fresh took over it's operation which fizzled quickly. The 2007 remodeling project at the Rotunda and the Super Fresh bankruptcy made it convenient for the Giant to move 2 blocks west. They took over a space that has too many square feet which explains the spacious bakery and main aisle. However, this Giant has always been without a pharmacy, a very profitable portion of a typical Giant. The Rite Aid has that concession across the parking lot as it did in...
