On June 26 I came with my future daughter in law and her maid of honor to find the perfect dress for her wedding. Upon arriving for our appointment we waiting 15 minutes for our consult. After arriving to the front she took us back and introduced herself and asked what the bride was looking for. She was told that the bride is looking for a black gown and although there was none in the store, the consultant Meredith told us there were several that came in black. She went and pulled 4 gowns that were supposed to be able to get in black. There was one the bride thought was ok but was told that didn’t come in black. I asked if they had any prom gowns that were black that the bride could try on and was told they had none, all gowns were sold during prom season. Another lie, no one buys off the rack for prom. The consultant left and the bride and myself went shopping to find a gown. We brought one back and the consultant shows back up and says oh you want to try more? The bride found her gown without the help of the consultant. Meredith said that gown could be done with black lace, we were happy. She asked if this was the dress and the bride said yes. No measurements were taken, nothing. Was told they would contact the maker and ask if black lace could be out on, after being told it could. I called a week later and was told they were still trying to contact the maker. It is now July 11 and neither she or I have heard a word from Grayce Bridal. It was very apparent to us that the bride wasn’t taken seriously because she has multiple tattoos and didn’t fit the typical bride expectations. Even the way the consultant was always leaving the room or standing in the hall talking to another consultant told us it all. The consultant kept repeating that 60% had to be paid that day which isn’t true. I purchased a wedding gown for my daughter on May 22 and did not put 60% down. When I was ready for her gown to be ordered I paid for it. It’s a shame that my daughter in law was treated like this, she’s waited a long time for this day and was treated badly. Apparently they didn’t think she could afford a $2,000 gown, she didn’t have too as that was my...
Read moreI came into my first appointment extremely anxious after a negative experience at another bridal shop. As a plus size bride, with a petite mother and future mother in law by my side, I was feeling self conscious about my size. At the first bridal shop, that was at the forefront of the conversation even after I expressed being self conscious and I was extremely uncomfortable the entire appointment. By the time I came to Grayce and met with the consultant, Kylie, I was so anxious I burst into tears just trying to tell her how I was feeling. She was extremely understanding and made me feel right at ease. She was down to earth, upbeat and worked hard to make me feel beautiful. She even made everyone in the room cry when she gave a speech about beauty! The experience at Grayce was night and day compared to the other shop. After my first appointment, I went back with a friend and met with Kylie again and had an equally positive experience. Unfortunately, my Matron of Honor was out of state and I didn't feel right making the decision without her. Kylie was nice enough to squeeze me in the following day with another consultant, Amy, for a quick 30 minute appointment so that I could decide with my MOH there. Amy was just as welcoming and extremely patient when we went well past the 30 minute appointment slot. She took the time to provide champagne and take pictures once I said yes to the dress, even though I was an hour over 30 minutes. I am so thankful for Kylie and Amy for turning my initially negative dress shopping experience around into a positive one and I know I made the right decision...
Read moreI bought my beautiful wedding gown from the Portland location and had a wonderful experience, but today we went to my fiancé's tux consultation here in Bangor and it was underwhelming. We drove an hour and a half in the snow to look at books with swatches, and browse their 10-20 jackets on the rack that were only in select colors. These are all things most people do online before booking an appointment anyway, so I was surprised that it was even an option to make an appointment just for... swatch-viewing? I was under the impression they had more considering their description of online states "All jackets on display in store." The consultant was friendly enough, but we heard the words "no" and "I'm sorry" a lot because they just genuinely had very few options. Ultimately, we left with nothing and still have no idea what we're looking for. Both my fiancé and I were very disappointed since I had such a positive, hands-on experience in the Portland location. We will be going elsewhere to find our groomsmen's tuxes. Ultimately, pretty much the only place to actually try on tuxes and suits is Henry's. If someone eventually makes it a more in-store, hands-on experience for people like us that aren't positive about what things will look like, there wouldn't be any competition. I will also add that my alteration appointment with Kylene coming up and she is so kind. I'm looking...
