Body Sense Day Spa — Attraction in Barnstable

Quite literally the worst "massage" experience of my life. When our couples massage was booked I was quoted one price, but was charged a different price because the massage we circled on the paperwork wasn't what I was quoted. This distinction on the paperwork is not clear, especially when the Swedish massage I was quoted wasn't anywhere on said paperwork. To have the owner say they are covid-19 compliant is laughable. The couple before us was from out of state, RI. We were never asked any covid related questions or asked for contact tracing info.. Neither of the people working were wearing masks that would be considered sufficient given the intimate proximity to clients. I would expect surgical or N95. On the day we went the other employees (cloth) mask wasn't even over her nose most of the time. We were both encouraged to remove our masks for the massages, which we both declined. There was no antibacterial soap anywhere in the available bathroom. I'm not certain the massage tables and cloth coverings were changed between clients. So much oil/lotion was used on me I cannot even put into words how uncomfortable I was on the 3 hour drive home. I've had many a professional massage, and the one I received from the owner was certainly not by someone with any actual certified training in such practice. My partners massage left her shoulder sore for days afterwards, which is odd given the lack of any significant pressure during her massage.. Neither of the women working on the day we received our massages were any of the women shown on Body Sense's website as the ones holding any type of massage certification.

Kelly is a wonderful and hardworking woman, I fully respect and admire her work ethic and I don’t mean to discredit her hard work that goes into her business. I do, however, feel I was overcharged for the service. I got a “ménage a spa” package that includes dazzle dry mani/ pedi, a 30 min facial and a anti aging hand treatment. The cost of this service was 205$ not including gratuity. I want to start off by saying that there are a lot of women much like myself who go to a spa to turn their brain off so to speak, and don’t want to engage in a full on conversation. I walked in with headphones to further highlight the fact that I prefer silence while receiving spa services. Again, Kelly is wonderful but I did not feel relaxed. A lot of conversation that I found meaningless makes it hard to grow euphoric during a spa day. I felt like the mani/ pedi was average, and I didn’t feel it was worth the money I spent. I left with air bubbles in my nails etc. I think for a lower price this service / package would be a lot more reasonable. When Charging someone 200$, they expect to leave feeling blissful, recharged, and completely rejuvenated. I was very short with my answers and it wasn’t a big enough hint that I didn’t want to talk. This spa is very clean and organized, I just think for the service done it costs too much money. Again, I don’t mean to discredit Kelly or her hard work that has been put in this business. This place was fantastic. We were looking to pass some time on a rainy day so decided to treat ourselves to a spa day. Being from out of town We knew our experience would be a hit or miss. This place is definitely a big hit. The staff was attentive and personable and they were able to accommodate 3 for a massages and facials. The Spa services were amazing and we were especially pleased with the organic products. We highly recommend booking an appointment. Those of you who live near here are lucky.
