I’m gonna take you on a little journey. Come along with me if you will.
I walked into the shop for the first time today, with high hopes after seeing the great reviews and having touched base on Facebook. I came in with my cheap acoustic guitar to have it checked out and adjusted, so I got in line right away.
I overheard some cool conversation between a bassist and the gentleman behind the counter. The bassist had come looking for a particular brand of strings that apparently was sold out, so they proceeded to talk about a variety of other strings and the tone/quality/feel of each set. There was no rush to churn customers in and out, no upselling, etc. Just dedicated one on one customer service to get this man a set of strings that would best satisfy him. After settling on a set of strings that the gentleman suggested, the bassist paid, thanked the employees and was on his way. I was up.
The gentleman—I didn’t catch his name—saw I had brought my guitar, and attentively came around the counter to greet me and take a look at what I had brought in. He was courteous and candid, immediately letting me know the cost of the bridgework required to properly repair my guitar was economically unreasonable—it would cost more then the guitar was worth. But he took the time anyway to carefully explain the procedure of fixing it, in case I thought it was worth DIYing it. He also took the guitar into the back to adjust and straighten the neck. When I brought it in it was bowed—which had been the main cause of the bridge separation—and the action was very high making chords really difficult, especially for a newbie like me. When he brought my guitar back out, about 2 minutes later, the neck was straight, the action was massively improved, and my previously ashy fretboard was now glistening in a Shea butter type glow. All of this, might I add, at no cost—zero dinero.
Next, I asked if they carried any little Martin guitars. He told me they didn’t, since they weren’t as high quality as some of the other brands they stock, but they did have a nice assortment of other similar-sized guitars at a range of prices. He recommended the Breedlove brand and showed me the models they carried. Very nice guitars that are still fresh in my mind. But I wasn’t ready to make the necessary investment to upgrade my guitar at this point, and think I still have my heart set on a Martin.
Long story short, this is a great music shop. You should...
Read moreI walked in with my gf to buy her first guitar. while perusing the guitars, I asked to see the percussion instruments as I am a drummer and a guitarist. This store is small, so the percussion and woodwinds are on adjacent walls. Not familiar with the instruments, I picked up a fancy clarinet and proceeded to try and make sound with it, I was blowing on the mouth guard. The manager came up to me and told me that I needed a reed if I wanted to play it and that they were only 3.50$. So he wanted me to buy a reed. He told me about how I have to wet a reed, but told me to put the whole thing in my mouth. After I did that, he came back and tried to help me insert it on the mouthpiece. All the while he complained about my spit getting on him/the clarinet from the reed he just had me slobber on. I then tried to make a sound. I clearly failed and he said, "You're not gonna figure this out today." I then asked, "Then why did you just make me buy this reed?" He got aggravated and then yelled, "FINE. I'm not going to make you buy the reed. You guys are a waste of time." So we left. Didn't buy a thing and didn't pay for the reed. Rudest person i've ever dealt with. Never going back and hope the place goes out of business. It's a joke. And Steven....
Read moreI just want to say that these guys are the best. I wish I remembered the fellas name that helped us out. We were in town for a show, Zach Williams at Graceland. My great newphew had told Zach Williams how important the song Fear Is A Liar was to him and Zach gave him a pick and told him to go learn to play. My other Nephew, Craig had also been kicking around the idea of beggining to learn as well. We went into Revolve and was warmly greeted right when we entered. Told the gentleman what we were looking for for the little one (10 year old Cross) and he found him a beautiful tobacco burst Jim Dandy. He loves it, got him a case, tuner, some picks and he was set. Then Craig my big nephew. The gentlemen found him a beautiful Alvarez with solid tone woods, mahogany and spruce top, built in tuner and electronics. The gentlman also found him a killer accoustic amp with plug in for mic along with a hard case. They gave us the red carpet treatment and helped us out with dicounts as well. This was one of the most prized memories of our family reunion trip to Memphis. Thank you rEvlolve Guitars & Music Shop!! Love you guys!!! Would...
