The artist Caroline Walker told me that I needed to check out this library, and wow was she right about that! Not only did I find her own sculpture, but I also found art from the late Lee Groff, two toads by Clint Howard, a sculpture by Anthony St. James, and even a model train set donated by the late Robert Standley. One thing that could be improved is definitely the Internet, as it was painfully slow, but the library is well worth the stop for anyone passing through.

Good selection of books and DVD's available. Free Wi-Fi! Awesome views, helpful staff, and also is a modern/clean building. There is also restrooms and free parking. I would recommend this library to anyone. Great for children, teens and adults.

Super friendly staff. Great facility. If you need a computer, they have plenty. In fact, they have sealed off workspaces where you can hold a conference call and not have to worry about disturbing the other patrons. Wi-Fi is available.

The Bastrop Public Library is a true treasure in our community! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the friendly staff. What truly sets this library apart, though, are the incredible programs and the dedicated volunteers who make it all happen.

For children, the library offers a range of engaging activities, from storytimes and craft sessions to educational programs that make learning fun. The summer reading program is always a hit, keeping kids excited about books even when school is out. The children's area is well-stocked with a fantastic selection of books and resources that cater to all ages and interests.

Teens also have a wealth of options, with programs designed to spark creativity and foster a love of learning. Whether it's through workshops, gaming sessions, or study groups, there's always something to keep teens engaged and connected.

Adults are not left out either, with a diverse array of educational and recreational programs. From book clubs and author talks to technology classes and hobby groups, there's something for everyone. The library also hosts informative workshops on topics like financial literacy, wellness, and job search skills, making it a valuable resource for lifelong learning.

The heart and soul of the Bastrop Public Library are its volunteers. Their passion and dedication shine through in every program and event. They go above and beyond to ensure that the library remains a vibrant and welcoming place for all members of the community.

In short, the Bastrop Public Library is more than just a place to borrow books—it's a hub of community activity, learning, and enrichment. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who make it such a special place!

P.S. There's a park, trail, splash pad, and river access within...

First and foremost let me say that this building has free wi-fi so for all you folks who are scraping by and maybe looking for a job, this is a great place to go and put in applications online and do a little looking around for any possible jobs in the area. Bastrop Public Library is very clean easy to maneuver, the staff is lovely and incredibly helpful. The building itself has a kind of modern feel to it it's kind of cool with many different angles and shapes so it is interesting to look at from the outside. Then with all the windows that it has it allows for so much daylight to come into the building itself which intern makes the inside just as appealing to look at.

The bathrooms have always been clean and I've never encountered a stench there. I think that my only real complaint could be that unless you are sitting in a private room or you are all the way in the back of the library there aren't many outlets to plug your phone into.

Anyway, the seating here is super comfortable and they have an excellent kids program where they can come sit and listen to books be read to them...

This library is HANDS DOWN, THE BEST in all this area! All the people that work there are very nice and helpful. I wish they could open earlier on the days they open later but then, maybe its a budget thing. Their WIFI is free and there for ALL to use (unlike Giddings library where the lady at the dest has to take your ID and enter the password for you or Smithville where there is no WIFI) and they have PLENTY of computers for all to use FREE of charge (unlike Giddings library where they charge you a dollar for an hour of computer time) and Smithville where the computers have issues. The only gipe I have is that they don't make people be quiet. It's a library...
