My husband and I visited this restaurant on 05/11/2024. The staff was friendly during the entire visit. The bathroom was so clean. This is big for me because most establishments have...not so clean...bathrooms. We ordered the Deep Fried Deviled Eggs and House Chips with Green Chile Queso (I think that's what it was) as appetizers. I ordered the Combo Platter and my husband ordered the Paw Paw's Platter. Paw Paw's Platter : 4/5 Combo Platter : 5/5 Deep Fried Deviled Eggs : 3.5/5 House Chips with Green Chile Queso : 5/5 We are so happy that we experienced this restaurant, and it is now on our "Go to" list. The restaurant was clean. Our drinks were great. The wait time was very short, and the food was hot and fresh. My sweet tea was EVERYTHING, and while it may be unfair, I do judge places on their sweet tea lol. We were not able to try deserts because we got so full. However, WE WILL BE BACK!

For a change, Bastrop was the perfect stop before Stonewall. Take Highway 71. July 4th weekend has lots of the local folk and visitors stopping by. Paw-Paw’s .. so glad we stopped by for lunch. We have had catfish.. and then we’ve had catfish at Paw Paws. Super fresh.. fried just right.. home made cocktail sauce or tartare and we like those fries.. crunchy exterior! Yummmmm! Their grilled shrimp po boy.. portions I like.. you don’t get super stuffed and still have room for something else if the need arose. Staff take care rwof you.. and leave you to enjoy the meal and check in on you later. Had time to tuck in and enjoy each morsel. Love the charm of the place.. black and white pics of days gone by.. cute classic cliches about fishing.. perfect “tackle” on the decor. Burger just as good here and with the perfect crunchy fries. The ice tea was the perfect thirst quencher with our meal.

Came in for lunch on a Saturday in February and had a great experience. The server was really friendly and talkative. He gave us great service and also a few recommendations on what to do in the area. Great for a Swedish tourist! As for the food we started off with fried pickles (as a Swede I've never even heard of this before and it was a bit weird but I do recommend!) and then had a basket each. I had the shrimp basket and my husband went for the chicken tender basket. The shrimp was good and the sauce great. They marketed it as a homemade cocktail sauce and it was simply deliscious! The chicken tenders were cooked perfect and the seasoning gave a hint of spice, also delicious! We left full and satisfied even though we didn't finish the whole plate bc there was so much food. Thanks for a great Saturday lunch!

In house, the food and the service is impeccable. But when it comes to take out orders that is another thing. We have ordered at least five times if not more from here and half of our order is always missing, whether it is our extra coleslaw or our extra beans to even our extra hush puppies something or all mentioned are missing by the time we get home. We have brought this to the attention of a number of employees or employers and they have always been kind in asking if we'd like to come back and get it or if we'd like a free entree in the future. But we live out of town so going back to pick up food isn't really feasible for us, otherwise we will end up with a very cold meal. Also we always ask to have our order checked to make sure everything is in it because if we do it ourselves there we are kind of in the way in the small entrance area or the place being full and no where to actually look, but we are always told by who brings us our order they have checked it and all of our stuff is in there. Now that is an out right lie due to us coming home and most, or some of our order is missing and I know that part of that is our fault for not checking when we are in the car, but that is alot of food for us to go through when we have ordered for multiple people who are waiting to eat and would like their food warm. So we as customers rely on the employees to help by making sure our orders are correct when given to us, and I have worked in the food industry so I know what goes on, and I understand how it feels to be on the employee side of this I sympathize with them and I try to look on both sides of this situation, but this is really the main reason we haven't gone back in awhile to get food when this was one of our favorite places to eat in town. The food is wonderful we will still go and eat here but actually sit down and eat, we will more then likely not order a To go for awhile, we will still tell people and our friends to come and enjoy The only reason I give this a 4 Star is due to the many wrong to go orders we and our family has received, otherwise I would...

Had lunch with my in-laws at Paw Paws. Got there about 1:30 in the afternoon and the place was packed. Still only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. The waitress took our drink order right away and by time they were back with our drinks we were ready to order our food. The food came quickly and was hot and fresh. I ordered the shrimp platter which consists of 6 jumbo fried shrimp, a plate full of fries, two hush puppies, beans, Cole slaw and a lemon wedge. Everything on the plate was prepared well and very delicious. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy, golden and delicious. The beans were soft and creamy and mildly seasoned. The hush puppies had little bits of jalapeno in them giving them an extra boost of flavor and a tad of spice. The Cole slaw was a typical slaw but with a sprinkling of cayenne pepper took give it a bit of a spicy note on the tongue. Everything was was just delicious and all of that for only $13.99. A heck of a good deal if you ask me. My in-laws both got the catfish basket which also had a good amount of fish and for $11.99 each. Service was fast and the staff were pleasant and friendly. All in all we had a great meal for the 3 of us and were out the door for $52 with tip. A real bargain in this day. I will return to Paw Paws the next time I'm in Bastrop...

Finally got to come here after wanting to come check it out in person. Let me tell ya'll, me & the hubby were very impressed. When we walked in we were automatically greeted. Our waiter came took our order, was very polite, & he served us well with keeping my hubby's sweet tea constantly filled. This place felt cozy & relaxing, the decor was really nice, country music played, for a minute I thought I was at the coast. The food OMG was really good, we had the Bastro0 Wangs & fried pickles man we highly recommend. Then for our entrée we had the combo plate & Paw-Paw's platter, it tasted really good like the batter didn't flake off the catfish or shrimp to the point where it would fall apart nope it was nice & crispy, beans tasted home made & the coleslaw was good too. I had the Mason jar margarita that thing was like a thick frozen icee but like to where you could still drink it through the straw & not get a brain freeze, it was really good. Overall we are glad we finally made it out here, service was excellent & so was the food. We are definitely going to be coming back!

Thank ya'll to the...
